Mainstreamers who hate 2-D Games ???

I find it interesting that like all industries that got started by the no-limit soldiers (i.e. Die-Hards) who either bled their wallets dry or strong armed Mom and Dad as kids to support those industries... the game industry is at the whim of mainstreamers, and I understand that from a business angle. What I don't understand however, is why a lot of mainstream buyers who never got to play the NEO:GEO in it's heyday will tell me and ppl I know that we're dumb asses for clining to 2-D and what not, yet these same advocaters of all things 3-D ALL own Gameboy Advances and just go on and on about how great GBA games are?

Now what are some of your opinions on this people? An industry helped created by the likes of ppl right here in the Neo Forums, who all probably own Next-Gen systems (I do) but still love 2-D games and the Neo in particular... is now run by the whims of kids who grew up from 1995's Sony Playstaion, (among some Gen Xser and Y ppl) and these people are biased on 2-D? It's not terribly important mind you, it's just something that tends to annoy me from time to time. I say this because dammit, the Neo might be 12 years old with 13 year old hardware, but the GBA IS a 2-D system no different from the Neo, and it can't possibly do the things the Neo is still doing or did in it's hey day. So what do you believe drives people to say that 2-D sucks, that the Neo is outmoded... yet play games underpowered on the GBA? They'll support new games on that system and it's okay as long as it's portable, but our beloved Neo stuff is scoffed at by the same ppl? I don't need any mainstream buffons acceptance to love my Neo or 2-D games in general, I just don't get the whole oxymoronic irony of it all.

Good point! Personally, I think GBA sucks, just for the simple fact it's a portable system. You got me stumped, but keep in mind that many of these people are morons.

Honestly if they just got into video games in 1995 or later w/ the PSX then they must be very young. my little cousin who is 15, his first system was a snes. He loves 2d. He always comes over to play my Neo and other old skool systems.
Anyway think about how young they must be. I don't know about you all but I was far from mature in my early to mid teens. In fact I was fucking horrible! A menace to the streets of New York. Lol. Should we really care what some little bastard thinks who doesn't know any better and contradicts himself by playing old 2d games on a gba?

A good point indeed BrooklynSkin... but what about all the ppl that are Gen Xsers and Nintendo Generation (Generation Y) AKA: The Yakuza Generation??? These ppl are old enough, but contradict themselves all the time, citing that 2-D sucks but then pull out a GBA? These ppl talk smack about why I would support the latest Metal Slug game on the Neo, but would buy it in a second if it were somehow ported to teh GBA. Just seems stupid to me is all. But we all know the Neo is great so I'm not going to let anyone screw it up for me.

Maybe it's just the kind of people I like to hang out with, but everyone I know is a big fan of any game as long as it's fun. I had a friend who almost never plays games anymore come over and ask if I wanted to play Metal Slug 3. Afterwards we had a blast with Baseball Stars 2 and Super Dodgeball. That's just the way it is now... I've turned my game collection into a 2D arcade action dream, and everyone loves it.

I personaly think the GBA is a total piece.
the screen sucks big time and the games are a complete waste money at 40.00 on avereage.
I usually think in terms of game play instead of flash. and for me 2d is an art form especially on the neo that has been lost.

I still fool with my Atari Lynx and buy new games for it now and then.
One of my buddies bought a GBA , then I showed him my Lynx and he sold his GBA and got a Lynx.

I for one am actually glad that more people dont know or care what a Neo is , It makes it that much more appealing to me , let them have all the newest flsahy crap { not that I dont have it myself } that just means more great Neo stuff for us.

i have two friends, one that claims 2-d sucks and yet owns and plays every single street fighter that's ever been ported to a home system. he's one of those final fantasy kids, who believes if it's made by square and has the same rehased love story it's good.

where as my other friend claims 3d and all of it's plygonal attributes suck, because theres no style just science and math. he's only out for 2d games because they look like something that someone had to sit down and draw out. before anything goes into a computer.

then theres me, the kind of median between the two. i love 2d and 3d is good too though im not what would be considered a "mainstreemer" as i stick to games and companies that are a little more obscure i hate final fantas and love romance of the three kingdoms; you know koei has always been better than square. but i'm also a fanboy for nintendo and SNK so i'm not the perfect median, but who is?
