yes i still call them funcoland, but anyways i wanted to trade in my NES and a few games. the guy comes up to me and says they gotta test it out "okay." i say then i go to the counter and the guy tries to push the platform on the inside down and can't do it; i step over and push it down. he then says they wont take it because it won't go down on the first try. he then says he wants to take my games i'm thinkin no because if i have to take my system home i want my games. and i stand there thinking for a while and the guy repeats himself and i say "okay i'll just take my stuff." plain and simple he then says "theres no need to get rude with me."i'm a litlle put off by his comment and i'm like "i wasn't trying to be rude." he then proceeds to toss my nes aside unhook everything and throw my controllers into the bag while ripping the boxes for excitebike and ice hockey. that fucking ass clown then says "there's no need to get mad buddy." all condescending like so i took my stuff and left the guy was a newbie there. all of the other people there i had seen before. what a cock face!! has this kinda shit ever hapened to anyone else.

yeah i still call them funcoland too. it seems that the majority of people that work there consider themselves hardcore gamers (yeah right) or it seems like a chore for them to do something for a potential customer i say the hell with them.

Do you go to the one on Brodie? If so, don't. They're always really condescending and rude, and they will damage stuff. I tried to sell my N64 there one time and they offered me $22 for it, and when I said no they tossed it around like it was worthless.
I just try not to deal with them anymore, if I need used games I just buy them on Half.com.

interesting, I couldnt sell my ps1 because it didnt close the first time, yet every GOD DAMN SYSTEM AND GAME THAT I BUY FROM THEM ARE BROKEN.

Heres a hint, use eBay. Or better yet, dont sell your games, you wont feel as guilty.

KK, yeah I know what you mean. Those Funcoland clerks can be cocky sumbitches. By the way, may I suggest you use paragraphs next time you write down a conversation..

Here's my theory on Funcoland. Never sell anything to that place. Never. They rip you off. However, it's okay to walk in there and look for old games. Just don't bring anything more than a twenty dollar bill.

If you see some old games you like, buy it and get the hell out.

If you do that, you might learn to accept Funcoland on a somewhat very small level. While I had my bad experiences with them, there also been times where I got some good games for cheap... so just pick your spots.

That's terrible. I wouldn't go back there. Can someone tell me how these assholes manage to keep jobs? Probably an ungrateful loser kid.

dude call corporate ! get ahold of the district manager and rip his ass wide open !
I recently riped my local dm for e.b.
this dickwad clerk was just kinda standing around and wouldnt wait on a lady infront of me who was wiating for like 5 minutes.
I threw the 2 games I wanted to buy on the counter and told him WTF I shouldnt have to ask you to ring me up !
I called corprate and the DM called me the next day.
I told him what happend and that I had to drive to their other store { 20 miles away } to get the games I wanted and if that is the kind of service Im going to get I will take my business elsewhere from now on.
he was pretty cool and gave me a 25.00 eb card for the inconvienience.
the manager of the store who I have known since 1993 handed me the card himself and appologized.
the suck thing is that manager is moving to a different store about 100 miles away,so now there will probably be a total dickwad there instead.
complain every time these guys treat you like shit !
Without us they dont exist !

I think everyone has been the victim of "assholes in the workplace". Here is my story.

I was in line at EB one day to pick up a game, but there was this lady in front of me. She was obviously buying a game for her son, but the clerk was just standing there talking on the phone.

The lady just stood there waiting for the girl to get off the phone, I decided to wait a couple until she was done. But she just kept on talking, finally the lady in line spoke up and said "Excuse me.". But the clerk just ignored her, then I got pissed.

I walk behind the counter and hung the phone up on the clerk talking. I said "You want to be rude to your customers, then your customers get to be rude to you."

Needless to say that wasn't the end of it, but luckily the manager came back and saw us arguing. He asked what is was all about, I then explained to him what happened. He apologized for the whole thing and finally helped us out.

Best part is that I have yet to see that lady working at EB again, she got fired. :D

It's funny that you bring this up, because I've had problems with these fuckers too. There's one in the city of Torrance in SO CAL, close to where I live, and they can be a pain in ass! Just be rude right back at them...always works for me, and since no one is a bigger prick than I am, I make them regret the attitude problem. As rude as they can be, there nothing compared to the DMV!

Heh, I used to work at a Funcoland. I'll tell you what though, a lot of the people are ass holes (I had a DICKWAD manager). But most of the clerks I worked with were nice people. We tried to be nice to most customers but you all have to understand something: working there makes you hate people. Video Game people, especially cheap ones LIVE at funcoland. I've posted the poems/lists of crappy things that customers do at Funcoland, and it really does make you bitter.

And yes, Funcoland will rape you on trade in prices. And they're used prices are relative shit too when you look at whats available elsewhere. Also the condition of some of the crap there is HORRID. And I'll tell you why: Most people who work there are "Hardcore" gamers or collectors themselves. So whenever something big (or good) gets traded in they take it for themselves, or put it in the "hold drawer" that contains all the great/mint stuff that employee's want to buy, at a 25% discount. Amazing stuff, plus they don't put the stickers on it if they are going to buy it, thus keeping it all minty fresh.

I only go back to Funcoland (which is now Gamestop) on occasion cause I know a bunch of people there. I've bought a few things from them (the new game prices aren't bad) and a few used things that were actually a good deal. You just have to be careful. If you want to sell your used stuff, eBay is the place to go, NOT Funcoland.

Peace

I went there to get Street Fighter III and they put the disk into a cardboard sleeve and stapled it shut without letting me look at it. I tore the staple out and saw a huge gouge across the fat. I told them I wanted a different disk or a refund and they wanted to know why. I showed them the gouge and they asked if I did it. I very calmly explained that I would make their life a living hell if they didn't make it right. One should never run a business like that. Selling a (obviously) fried game is fraud. I didn't go there to buy a non-functioning game.

Here's a funny story (well kinda)

I was in EB looking at their playstation games, and a kid comes in wanting to sell his Dragon Ball Z: UB 22 import. Obviously, they told the guy that they didn't want it, and he proceeded to walk out. I called him from across the store and asked how much he wanted for it. He said he was hoping to get at least $10. I told him I'd give him $15 if it was scratchless. It was, I gave him the money, and he gave me his game.

I thought it was pretty cool to strike a deal like that in the store. So I pick up Metal Slug X, and head towards the counter to pay for it. The guy rings it up, and while he's doing that he says to me "you sure you don't want to check with the other customers to see if they have this?" in a very hateful attitude. I was shocked. So I said "no, but you can void that purchase and shove it up your ass" and left. I have absolutely no patience for asses.

Umm..hate to tell you this, but it is kind of aganist any store policy to allow outside parties to carry on business transactions within the store property. The people at the store (while bneing rude I'll admit) could have had you tossed out of the store for it. Also, since Sony desn't allow big retail chains to carry imports, that is why they couldn't purchase it in the first place.

Not defending funco, but next time take the transaction out to the parking lot...that way they can't give you any grief.

The EB I was in was in a mall. The most he could've done was make us go out 2 feet (we were by the entrance anyway). Either way they don't get my business anymore.

I have had a few shitty experiences with EB myself. One time, I went in looking for Chrono Cross. I asked the lady if they had it in and she said yes. The new price was like $60 and I only had about $55 so I got the used one for $50. She rung it up before I could even see it. I walked out and looked at it. The case was cracked, the manual was VERY torn up, and both discs were severely scratched. I got pissed and took it back and got a refund from a different employee. Then I walked over to FYE and got it new for $40. Always look elsewhere before buying from EB.

Wow! I truly feel for all your people who get fucked by Funco.

I live in the Southeastern part of Michigan and there are probably at least 7 Funcolands located within 10 miles of my house. Every store I've ever frequented has treated me with the utmost courtesy and respect. Over the years I've bought, traded, and sold back all kinds of video game stuff to Funcoland and never once had a problem. I primary purchase new games from them now since the Best Buy's in my area get picked clean within minutes of a new game being released.

Possibly the reason I don't get shit on is because I don't shit on them. I always address the store clerk working as sir or maam, regardless of age. I give them the appropriate greeting of the day. I ask in return how they're doing if I'm asked. Little shit like can really go a long way.

If you are polite to the clerk and he/she is stick a dick/cunt, fuck them up ski mask style in the parking lot as soon as they get off work. Don't be a fucking bitch and go pouting over the phone to some higher-up. People always want to complain to someone rather than just duke it out in an old-fashioned fight. The general population nowdays is just too scared to take an asswhooping. It just makes me sick.

And you're a fuggin goon. If it were illegal to have sex, you wouldn't break the law? Who gives half a shite about what the law says. Laws are completely arbitrary by the fact that the laws you are subject to are by chance of where you happen to be born.

I worked at Funco for a little while, and yes most of the people working there are absolute fools. I actually quit after only two months because I could not take the insanity that engulfs Funcoland. Anyway, I have a recent story to share from when I went in to buy Virtua Fighter 4. It was on the day of VF4's release, and I saw they had a whole mess of them (no pre-order was necessary to get one as there were plenty to go around). So, I ask if I can have one and this girl working there tells me, "I can't sell you one unless you pre-order the Spiderman DVD". My reply, "Still working on comission?" This kind of upset the girl, and she called me a jerk and told me she wouldn't sell me the game. So I ask to speak to her manager, and tell him the whole story. Finally I am sold the game, and as I'm walking out I shout outloud "never again will I shop here". And, I haven't since. They sure are a friendly group of bastards...

Of course

I've seen two copies of Genesis Streets of Rage 3 in super mint condition in Gamestop

I saw them and asked how much but they told me they're "on hold".........

I'm all up for a good fight now and then, but that is just stupid.

If your going to fight then find something actually worth fighting for, beating the crap out of someone who didn't really do anything will just land you in court. That right there is "Assault", that is far worse than someone just being rude to you.

You want to end up with a heafty fine, or a possible jail sentence. By all means go for, but you'll more than likely be the one getting the "asswhooping" in the end.
