Vampire Savior for SS........just amazing!!!

I've had this game for a little more than a year now and it still amazes me every time I play it. This has to be one of Capcom's greatest fighting game achievements. Great character designs, animation, and superb fighting system.

Every time I play as Jedah I can't believe what I'm playing! The first time I was in the arcades and saw Jedah do his strong punch (the one where his arms pull out in a bloody triad of flesh) I knew I had to own it.

Even a year later I still play it and it rules. :D

I like it but I prefer Vampire Hunter. It just feels tighter than Savior.

Savior is an amazing arcade port.

And better than Chronicle on the DC hands down.

Although Vampire Hunter is a slightly better game for me as well, despite the lack of animation when compared to Savior- the BGs are much better and it feels a little tighter and slightly more classic. The artwork in this game is just about the best Capcom has ever done.

BUT- they are both awesome and absolute must haves for any fighting game fan.

I rate the home versions like this:

1) Hunter (JPN Saturn)- by a little
2) Savior (JPN Saturn w/4m ram)
3) Chronicle (JPN DC)
4) Darkstalkers (US PS)

Of course they are all at the center of my fighting game world so to speak and they are all really excellent ports.

But overall, HELL YEAH I agree- Vampire Savior is an A+++ game on an A+++ system.

Vampire Hunter and Savior are both fucking masterpieces. Endless fighting fun with perhaps the all-around coolest cast in any fighting game. VH edges VS a bit for me as well because of the better tunes and backgrounds, but I love Jedah, Lillith and Bulleta as well. Both more than worth owning.

Really? Remember it's all opinion and there's no right or wrong here.
I prefer Hunter a little over Savior as well. I like the regular 2/3 falls style compared to the Killer Instinct-esque way found in Savior.

But like everyone stated, it's worth owning both.

It's a tough choice for me, as I take to Jedah and Lilith. But in Hunter, everyone had their own stage and their own music. In Savior, losing that element took a little away.

Should I feel bad for having Vampire Savior 2 for the PS right now?? I love my game but some people that I deserve better. What is so bad about the system and the game?

*wonders*

Actually, it's a very good translation, just not quite as good as the Saturn's. If you're happy with it there's no reason to feel bad.

For the unknowing, Savior on Saturn beats Vampire Chronicles on Dreamcast.

-Saturn Has-
*Larger sprites
*Less pixilated sprites
*Real endings
*Cut scenes w/text
*English option

I prefer Hunter.... Most of the characters in savior feel bastardized and toned down. Gameplay seems slower as well.

I do like Jedah over Pyron though... he has more personality.

Yeah Vampire Savior rocked, I just wish Capcom would have port Vampire Savior 2 to the Saturn instead of the PSX (aka the US Darkstalkers 3) Just liked the extra character Mimic, yet the shadow mimic beast was a lovely touch in VS. Vampire Hunter was lovely indeed, had it when it 1st came out on US Saturn. I would go with Vampire Hunter, just had more extras, especially both intros from Vampire 1 and Vampire Hunter via the code, animation still looks good caompred to today's mainstream of 2D fighters

Well... my only CPS2 board at the moment is Vampire Hunter... so what does that tell you wink Love the series... Don't like Saviour 2 since they took out Gallon... WHAT WHERE THEY THINKING! But, I also love BBH... too bad she didn't make it into Hunter or it would have been the easy favorite for me!

Is Savior jp only? I know that hunter has a US version, does this have any shortcomings vs the jp version?

Ah hell, somebody list all known home DS releases and any relevant comments. What I gather from the posts above is that Saturn versions are superior, but only have 2 & 3, not 1 and 3 pt 2.

The Saturn Versions are superior...animation wise and loading time wise. The ps1 ports arent horrible though, just not as good...it seems by the time they came out, capcom had learned a couple of tricks to make their games playable.

Darkstalkers 3 is out on Saturn...it's just known as Vampire Savior and it's a japanses release that requires the 4 meg ram cart.

Its better in Single Player yes, but in Two Player, Chronicles shines.

I still can't believe how crappy the DC version is.... I mean after the VS on the Saturn, the DC version is like 10 steps backward.... ack.

The audio quality is also better in VC, although there isn't anything wrong with in on VS for SS.

I've just won Hunter off of ebay. I'm waiting for the guy to get Savior so that I can save on shipping.

VC on the DC does seem pretty weak. I've never played any of the others but you can tell there's something wrong with it. The intro is pretty cool though.
