Is horrible! The gameplay, the movies, the combat system, just awful! I got the demo in today and I played the 1st part of it, it sucked! I know the only a little of the story so I wont go into detail on that but it's just the way the game is played. You dont have a automatic target system. The only good game I played today was Panzer Dragoon Otra.

The Getaway looks like nothing more than a GTA ripoff , but the tv spots are great.

My buddy who played it said it was a good game. Anyway everybody wants to compare it to GTA. Its not gonna be GTA. My friend said it was supposed to be something like a tribute to British mob/gangster movies. It also it has i can't remember how many square miles of actual london terrain. Enjoy it for what it is. I for one love Brit Gang flicks so i know i'm gonna enjoy that mofo.

I kind of like the game. Its NOT a GTA clone by a long shot. Its just different. The graphics are nice. They look better than vice city's graphics and the area is really big.The game has a realistic approach. There are no life bars or maps. You will regain health by leaning against the wall. This game is violent. It has swearing too.
This game grew on me.I first hated it but after playing it more, i am beginning to like the game.
I wish they had taken the time and improve on the frame rate.Thats my major gripe so far.

Well I know Tarma likes it, but I simply could not get into it.
You can't skip the cut-scenes and they are LONG.
You can't adjust the camera when on foot, and the camera is absolutely terrible.
The game's method of telling you where to go in the driving sections is haphazzard, innacurate and basically unhelpfull. I don't live in London, or even close to it, so I dont know where all the landmarks are. I know the developers were going for a film-like feel, but an on-screen map would have made these problems dissapear.
The games manual fails to tell you how to heal your character- how the hell did they overlook that?

Basically, for a game that has been in development for over 3 years - I expect better. I certainly don't expect basic errors like not letting you control the camera.

Still, nevermind, I'm now looking to Sony Cambridge to deliver the UK-made PS2-based gaming goodness with Primal.
Fingers crossed........

Shit,I bought this game last night and I still haven't played it.
I usually play the demo first but I found a deal on the game and grabbed it.
Does it really suck?
I was hoping for a Vice City fix with this game.

iplayed it round a freinds house a few weeks back, and it was teh sux!!!

in the driving sections, the car seems to 'float' rather that give any feel of it beingon the ground, This doesn't help when you crash into a wall and boucne off it, pinball style.

There is no way of keeping track of where you are going, your ammo, your health. the HUD is none existent. The auto aim is shockingly bad, i used a whole AK47 clip just to wipe out 3 bad guys. The manual aim isn't much better either, i shot 8 pistol rounds into an explosive barrel before it went off.

Also, the language is well overdone. I was trying to get into a car when some damn cockney bitch just kept saying 'what the FUCK are you doing mark?' i just wanted to punch the tv and strangle the bitch!!! :)

The Getaway is a top game... BUT... if you try and compare it with GTA you're gonna have problems with it. The game is nothing like GTA. The only similarities are the abilities to hijack cars and shoot innocent people.

If you give the game a chance and don't expect a GTA clone then it's really great. In fact it gets better every time I play through it :D

It's not without it's faults, but then GTA VC isn't perfect either, by any stretch of the imagination. The camera angle when you're on foot can be a little awkward at times, but it's quite rare really, but it wouls have helped if it was a bit more flexible.
You can't skip the cut scenes, which can be annoying, but generally they're pretty amusing and worth watching. I would not say they're as annoying as MGS II: SoL.

The driving sections are fucking awesome, especially when you've got coppers on your tail and you start razzing down the back streets of London. The car handling is really good, (sorry plisken but you don't know what the fuck you're talking about), and varies from car to car.

The on foot stages are the weak link, however, they're still well executed, and good fun. Note, you can't go charging in shooting up the place like you can in GTA, you'll get killed very quickly. Patience and strategy is the key to succesfully completing these missions.

It's a great game and well worth buying, which I can't say about a lot of PS2 stuff right now. Hopefully a sequel will iron out the few 'creases' the game has, and make it perfect. :D

I played it to death one note on rent when it came out, i'd say its like a more focused GTA, just with some dogy handling.

At first it was ok, but the shooting is totally wooden and the missions are frustrating.

remeeming features include the "colourfull" language and there is some fun to be had in the shooting bits, jusyt not enough of it.

Deffinatelly rent brfore buying it........"you muppet"

Im sorry, I take it all back now. I finally
figured out what I did wrong. With the targeting, you have to press R1 and just fire. I see now how to gain your life back. Devil is right about them cursing alot. It's like they say the f*ck in just about every sentence.
