Has anyone played this game yet? The Alpha version was said to be leaked by ATI. I want to get it so I can try it out but I can't find it. Could someone burn me a copy or show me where I can download it? Thanks for your time.

Trust me, its barely playable. I had it running on an Athlon XP 2200 with a Geforce 4 TI4600 and it rarely got above 23fps in windowed 640x480 (it won't run fullscreen, and anything higher than 640x480 it completely chokes) and thats only when standing STILL. As soon as you start to fight anything, be prepared for a whopping 6fps or LOWER. I'd try Direct Connect if you're still set on finding it.

Why not find it the same way everyone else has to, use a fucking file swapping service? If you can find a site with it up, I can almost guarantee it won't be around long, since I'm sure Id doesn't take to kindly to people STEALING their shit.

So what if it's unplayable and there's tons of shit you have to do to get it to work? It's still stolen. It's the same deal with teh ROMS.

Only thing worse is buying NGH carts and "fixing" the inserts.

Here are my system specs and you can perhaps give me an idea if my machine can run it:

Pentium 4 @ 1.6 GHZ
512 Megs of PC133 RAM
128 Meg ATI Radeon 9000 Pro
40 Gig Hard Drive UDMA 100 @ 7200 RPM

Will that do the trick? I only have a modem so it would take days to download it from you. I read that it is 364 Megs so I may be out of luck trying to download it seeing that I only have 1 phone line. Do you think there is anyway that you would burn it to disk for me? I will give you $10 for your trouble. Thanks for your time.

I don't really care if I can't play it that well. You see, 6 FPS is fine by me. Back in the day (1994) I was trying to play the original Doom on my Compaq Presario with:

Intel 386 SX 25 MHZ
4 Megs of SIMM RAM
120 Meg hard drive
Sound Blaster

Mind you that is well below the requirements of the game and I was getting maybe 3 frames per second. I could count the frames after I killed the guy. The shotgun went off and I heard theblast and the moan before the screen even started to move! I can handle 6 frames just fine thank you very much. I have been waiting to see a new Doom for ages and I have just got to see this Alpha. buttrock

P4 2.66mhz
512 DDR Ram
80GB Hard Drive
Geforce 4 MX420

even that wouldnt make it worthwhile, so dont bother.

You couldn't play it anyway! Your card does not have pixel shaders! In fact, my Geforce 2 Ultra on my other machine would rape your video card. If I were you, I would invest in a cheap ATI Radeon 9000 Pro. They are about $100 on eBay and are much faster than the card that you have right now. Also, your chip is 2.66 GHZ and not 2.66 MHZ. If it was MHZ, it would take a day and a half to load Windows.

plisken if you are thinking of upgrading your card , I would seriously look into any of the GF4-TI4200 cards on the market.

You really cant go wrong with them since they usually run around 130.00 to 160.00 on average and overclock on factory drivers { even better on Nvidia Detenators} to TI4600 speeds with no problems, Definitly the best bang for your buck in the video card market !

This appears to be the one real bottleneck in your system.
