Fushigi Mysterious Play opinions wanted!

I'm considering purchasing the two box DVD sets and was wondering if the anime series is as good as all the reviews I've read.

Would appreciate any opinions b/c as most of you are aware that each box set sell for around $150 a piece.

I very much enjoyed the series. However I got it in fansubs when it first came out. Kind of a sad seris.

To tell you the truth I was going to pick up the dvd's myself but since I have them in fansubs I have them low on the list. I would rate it highly on my list though as far as animes I like out of the 1,000 plus i have. But it depends what kind of Anime you like to watch. It has good humor and action but also alot of drama in it.

But I guess to answer your question I would pick it up myself. However before I give suggestion I usally like to get a feel on the movies people like.

I have some friends that come over reguarly for a movie night and one night I showed them perfect blue.

I have only watched the first few tapes, when I rented them from my friend's store. I liked it well enough to buy it. Try and borrow or rent a copy before sinking that kind of money into the DVD set.

Thanks to the opinions I've received so far.

I really don't have any preference as to what type Anime I like as long as it has a good story line.

I liked it but I personally prefer something like Jo Jo's Bizzare Adventure,DNA^2,Inital D and so on.I would take a same trip if you can over to chinatown and buy a fansub and see what you think of Fushigi Yuugi.I have too many anime tapes myself and always buying more.

Yeah!! I've seen some of those animes, and I never really took a liking to it although there are a lot of people that are REALLY into it.

I have not watched them so I cannot offer my advice however I believe that another box came out recently however it is considerably cheaper. Check Amazon for more info if you are interested.

That damned Mysterious Play drives me nuts!!!

My girlfriend became obsessed with them for a while and watched the whole series, much to my horror.

Very, very girly and melodramatic.

I can still hear that girl's high pitched voice constantly repeating "Tomohome!" "Tomohome!"

Uh-oh, my heads starting to hurt again...

I must force the word "Tomohome" from my mind.
