Shooters: Favorite Bosses

Mine include:

-Gargoyle (the classic mammoth robot from Thunderforce 3.... ahhhhhh)

-Golden Orge (the first baddie you encounter in Darius Gaiden... very simple, yet satisfying)

-The EyeBall Tentacle Man (dunno his name, but first boss in Life Force.... spooky as hell)

-Dragon (the first boss from Legendary Wings, a green flying dragon that spits hellfire)

So, which bosses do you like best? Should be an interesting read!

For me? Hmmm. I really love those HUGE planes from 1943, that appeared every 8 missions or so. Esp. the grey one, from mission 23 was it?

I like the Parodius-type ghost from Aero Fighters 2.

Pulstar's stage-1 boss.

Same deal with R-Type.

I love all the LifeForce bosses.

I rather liked the final boss of Prehistoric Isle 2 as well.

There are plenty of shooters I never played I can say.

The end boss of Salamander 2. You know you're a kick ass boss if you're last words are "I'll take you to hell with me!". I love all Lifeforce/Salamander and Gradius bosses (Though I can't help but wonder why the Gradius bosses usually self-destruct when the fight drags out for too long?).

GargoyleDiver, Fomalhaut, Lohun Battlecruiser

MUSHA:
All the bosses.

Gradius III:
Bubble Eye (boss 2)
Choking Weed (boss 8)

Gradius IV:
Yorogaton Kimera (boss 1)
Gillador (boss 4)

Gradius Gaiden:
All the bosses from this edition of the "Boss Parade" as well as Boss 1 (a giant snow worm whose death cry is just NUTS), and the Twin Moai Head boss of stage 4 ("You think you can beat me with that? Loser.")


Space Megaforce:
Nardork (that "DOWN WITH YOU!" voice sample is hilarious). <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

R-Type:
Double Keradops, Gomander, Convira (the 3 sectioned ship)

Salamander 2:
The giant serpent (boss 1) and the final boss.

Pulstar:
All of 'em, especially Gara Naga (the giant spinning turtle). The Junk Monster from Level 1 has a cool intro animation- pieces of junk fly together to form it.

Blazing Star:
Boss 1

Kyukyokyu Tiger II: The twin zeppelins (Stage 1)

Armed Police Batrider: Bazzcok, Envy, Blunt.

3 level boss in R Type Delta. The giant walker. Friggin awesome and I always make sure I at least play untill I get to him. Worth your time!

Did you know if you go through the game a second time you fight four Moai heads instead of two? Truly insane! Also, there's an extra boss to fight during the boss parade the second time around.

Surprising....NOBODY MENTIONED RADIANT SILVERGUN!!!!! Is it because I'm the only who owns it?! Doubtful...

Anyway, I'd have to say that all of the bosses are really really...really cool. My particular favorite being Xiga, the final boss. For those of you who've not played Radiant Silvergun before, he a humanoid boss that actually runs around and chases you. He does karate moves and flips....shoots litterally thousands of bullets at you..just looks really cool. Tough, but not too tough.

Radiant Silvergun is a cool game, but it just threw so many bosses at me, I guess I just didnt have enough time to pick a favourite....but if I had to, I would say that the last guy is one cool cat.
