I know what a TurboExpress, TurboGrafX-16 and TurboDuo are, but what is a SuperGrafX? I found one for sale, but I know nothing about it.

From their description I may want to pick it up. If anyone has any more information, please post it here, I do not want to blow the money on it for nothing.

I have a Super GrafX. It's basically a more powerful PC-Engine that plays all Japanese HuCards as well as 6 ones specially designed for it (of which I have 2).

1941 - Very good vertical shooter, but VERY expensive

Granzort - Horizontal platform/shoot/slash type of game. Not played this one much.

Battle Ace - OKish Afterburner rip-off in space. I own it but it doesn't get played much.

Ghouls n Ghosts - very good version of the arcade. This is the only reason I dig my SGX out every so often.

Aldynes - Horizontal shooter. Not played this one.

Darius Alpha - promotional release only, play against just bosses of other Darius games (Darius plus?) Unsurprisingly, it's very hard to find.

Darius plus supposedly takes advantage of the extra power, but I don't have this one either

Also, you cant plug a SGX into a CD-Rom2 unit without an extra adaptor.

Hope this helped (?)

Yes, that helps a lot, actually. I may go ahead and pick it up, since I do not currently have a unit that can play Japanese HuCards, and I am a sucker for older consoles that I find new in the box.

Just found this site which gives information about NEC and their consoles. Thought I would post it here, in case anyone else was looking for this type of information about NEC Consoles.

Darius Alpha wasn't for Supergraphx.
It's not Supergraphx title but a promo Hucard.
very rare.
You have one? Dang, you are lucky if you do have one.

I was thinking about pickup a Supergraphx but decided not to.....

just IMO:
1) few good Supergraphx titles (maybe 3 I like and they are very expensive)
2) few good hucard games. I'd rather stick with CD/SCD PC Engine games.
3) Save some money.....hehehehh

Sadly I don't have Darius Alpha

I got my Super GrafX quite a few years ago, before the massive price boom, so it wasn't too bad. Got a Shuttle unit then too, completely useless (well, can't be connected to CD unit) but a lovely collectible. Shame the price of LT's had already gone through the damn roof...

I was going to buy one of these units but the only game I wanted for it was Ghouls and Ghosts, which looks slightly better than the Genesis rev, but not as good as the CPS1 original.

Mostly something that would only provide collector value and would garner very little play time from me; collecting dust quietly. If you can get it for a good price, go for it but otherwise its one of the worst consoles ever released.

If you want perfect arcade port of Ghouls and Ghosts, get Capcom generation 2.

Genesis is okay but not as arcade perfect.

I like the Genesis version the most becasuse, a). Yuji Naka was the lead Programmer on it, and b). it was my first Sega Genesis game.

Also. its just a fucking awesome game. I can beat it with one eye closed now though but it was a great experience going through it when I really sucked at it.
