Simple Metal Slug question

What is the first boss supposed to be in Metal Slug?

What I THINK it is, is a Heavy Bomber that crash landed in some trees? Is it a plane at all? I just can't make it out to get a clear idea of what it is.

It seems to me like a plane bomber type thing crash landed on top of a wrecked ship.And all that boarding stuff on the top left of the plane was trying to repair it or something.

Or something like that....meh i dunno.

It's a giant version of the plane Morden flies at the end of stage 3 (?) I was looking through the art galleries on the Saturn version, and it shows the plane undamaged, AND shows the plane from stage 3. In Stage 1, we're looking at it from the front, with the wings spanning out over you as you attack the side. Kinda strange to make a stronghold outta that, but...Morden = loco

Well, my intuitions were almost correct, atleast I had the idea that it was a plane that crashed. Now that you guys mentioned some details, it does look like it has some scaffolding and stuff attached to the wing, so they can make repairs to it and work on it etc.. What a cool game.
