Does anyone know how much the PC-Engine-TG16 converters are going for these days?

Last I saw a decent one is still about $50-60 bucks, But I'm sure with some foraging you can find a decent one. The kick ass ones (Mikado)don't seem to be going down in price, rather they seem to be getting more expensive... at least that's how I've seen it. Prolly cheaper just to buy an import PCE DUO though.

zorro:
is there a way to do an internal mod?
Yes, but you better be prepared for some work.

Over at the Turbo Mailing list, they house THESE instructions on doing an internal mod. Basically you are rerouting 8 data lines to swap between TG16 and PCE mode.

This only works on US machines to the best of my knowledge. There are some other mods required if you want to covert a PCE to TG16 mode. This is because even with this mod, an actual PCE still not play a TG16 game. I believe a pin on one of the chips inside has to be wired to ground from 5 volts. This document goes into more details about this.

I would also just suggest getting a JP machine instead of doing these mods. That is unless you can pick up a Kisado adapter for a stoopid cheap price (which most likely WILL NOT happen).

Thats a Kisado adaptor. They were built by Dave Shadoff. There might be different colors of it though depending on when it was made.

All other PCE adaptors are junk.

That one that tzd.com is selling looks like a clone of the Kisado. Might be a good unit if it functions like the Kisado did.

I've got a TG16 and it has two white switches on the side and it can play US and Jap cards. I got it for 50 bucks with 3 games but the guy I bought it from didn't know what he had really he said he got it as part of a big trade.

I mainly bought it since I wanted to be able to play US TG16 games. I love my PC Engine Duo more than anything ever. (well except my Neo duh)
