C'mon Spike, let's not sink to that kind of level. I'm just glad fairness reigns...everyone's getting socked with a monthly fee. Cube owners have gotten to play this game for months, while XBox folk will have the added convenience of voice chat.

I, like MilkManX, will remain retired from PSO until Episode III. In the meantime I am focused on honing the arts of older SNK fighting games and CvS2 so I can school some people.

I cannot stand Sega lately. I mean, at least you get two months free now, but this is still way too pricey for an online game that doesn't even really have a persistant world.

Very unbecoming, Spike. If you don't like the way it tastes, don't dish it out yourself. wink

Looks like I'm down to 4 new games for February now. Paying 9 bucks a month for PSO feels like rape when Square can charge the same for FFXI and provide so much more...

Bummer. Sega missed a chance for a *huge* PSO community...

EDIT FOR A POSITIVE REMARK! Well, 2 months of free play is something, and being able to converse with more than a handful of users is kinda nice. Guess I'll give it a shot until the free play runs out...

US DC owners lucked out with PSO ver1.0. They got to play with ZERO fees...the Japanese have ALWAYS had the monthly fees, while US gamers got socked when PSO ver2 came out.

I think if you're into the game, given how much time you're gonna spend playing, it more than pays for itself.

I'm hoping Episode III represents a serious evolution in the game. There's so much more they could do with this world...I really feel like they've barely begun to scratch the surface.

You're right... I'm sorry. It's just makes me so mad how rotten they are, and then they rub non-facts into people's faces.

Well, I guess there is the voice chat. Funny thing is, I'm back into PSO HUGE. I was even thinking "hell, with no fee, I'm going to get the Xbox version". But now that there is one, I'll just keep leveling up the guys I have. I don't want to leave my 102 hucast and the others (lvl 30s and 20s).

eh, it sucks, what can you do. they said there were never going to be additional monthly fees. you can only go by what they tell you.

hell, one year is still less than what you have to pay for a fuckin keyboard :p

you know what is going to suck... you are going to have to pay $39.99 for XBL. Then $9 for PSO... then $9 for this RPG and $9 for this other RPG... it seems that everyone is getting ripped...

You know it probably isn't sega's choice to be doing this. I'd say the box has forced them to because bill needs to make up some of the money he has lost. offical announcements don't always tell the real reasons why the things happen the way they do.

Or sony would have told me they wanted my help for a marketing survey. I'd say microsoft is pulling more of the same bullshit ! It's a good thing I'm not fond of rpg's anyway :p

Hogwash. Sega's been charging folks for PSO since the first one came out in Japan, and since DC ver.2 here in the US. If anything, MS would prefer for Sega to NOT charge since the fee for PSO is contrary to what MS had been pushing as the idea of XBL.

Yes, it will probably cut into the potential numbers of players of PSO on the 'Box, but since broadband enabled folks are more likely to be online gamers anyway, it won't hurt too much.

PSO simply eats up tons of time. If you're interested in playing, 30 cents a day is NOT a big deal. Think of it as one credit at an arcade.

If that was the case then there wouldn't have been fees for ver2 and eps1&2.

Online games have a way of eating up funds in the ways of server maintenance.

And PSO isn't your typical RPG or MMORPG, it's something completely different, I suggest you give it a try, you may like it or end up becoming addicted like some cheap heroin junky.

As for the Hunter's License, I figured it could've gone either way, fee or no fee.

So I'm not really surprised by this outcome, it doesn't really affect me since I'm sticking with the GC version.

But this is sure going to piss a whole lot of people off.

Fuck that, I'm off this bandwagon.

There ain't no way in hell I'm paying the extra $8 a month for that game.

I'm going to go look for my GamePro that says "there will be no monthly fee for the XBox version....", I need some toilet paper.

Peace

JHendrix

PS. Loopz, all the practicing in the world ain't gonna save your ass! wink BTW, that shit your friends told you that was cheap as hell in CvS2 (the Roll Cancelling) has supposedly been removed from the XBox version.

While it still may be a better deal than the GC version, that is still contrary to the model that XBox Live has been following, and it sets a bad precedent.

I would have picked it up to play if it was free, but I'm not going to pay an additional fee to play games online. That stopped for me with Asheron's Call for PC.

The better deal? Let's see, who's been playing episode 2 now for... hmm, 5 months now? I mean honestly, who cares. I'm a bit pissed for those that were waiting for the Xbox version expecting there to be no fees, only to find they've been waiting months and months to get a fee. Yeah, it's got a 60 day trial, which is nice. This helps my decision for sure, as I didn't want to leave my powered up characters to start brand new ones all over. The choice has become a lot easier now.

the thing that sucks... every RPG you will have to pay for basically.

What... are the only games that come with Xbox live... M$ supported games... or what are they going to expand/include later without more fees?

because you still don't have to pay for a keyboard ($100) and a BBA (another $80-$100).

The xbox version comes with a USB device that lets you use Keyboard and Mouse with it.

You still get 2 Months free.

But i agree, paying extra was something that should have never been allowed to happen. If ti really was Sega's idea,MS should have paid Sega to keep it free.

Well, two months free, plus voice capability; sounds like a better deal to me. *shrug*

Regardless, this isn't good news at all. frown

AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT FIND THIS FUNNY? Sorry for yelling, but to say that "PSO is old news", only to follow it with "I'm going back to Shenmue 2"? LOL...

Go ahead and say it's got more stuff, and I'll tell you that PSO has a whole new episode. envy
