Alright - more ways to get poor.

First off, Rightstuf is doing their thang again - 33% off all Pioneer and Viz products. Hellsing, Trigun, Tenchi, Lain, Ranma, X... Also, shipping is free on orders over 100$

It's good stuff, folks. The coupon code and link is in my sig as always - please do use the link when making a purchase.

Also, some new Amazon codes have been added - same deal, links and codes are in the sig.

Yeah, I'm killing me, too. All that stuff that was just a little more than I wanted to spend is suddenly a deal I can't pass up...

Dude, you must really love me. I made sure to click through your link, and like always, I managed to spend ~$330 before shipping.

I bought the 3 Sol Bianca DVDs, All 8 Gatekeepers DVDs, prepurchased Mahoromatic 2, and bought all 4 Dual DVDs.

Anyone who wants to get some AWESOME Anime shouldn't hesistate to pick up Vandread, especially with this deal going on. Damn good series.

Dammit, I didn't even think of Sol Bianca - I hear it's pretty decent. Looks like I'll go even more broke...

I did snag Chobits (preorder) already, though - everything I've heard so far has been positive. And Hellsing will come after I make my credit card payment and free some space on my pathetic limit.

They have a cool feature in their search engine. Just click on the "Eligible for our Frozen Hearts Special Offer" to YES and everything that is available on the sale is there. THAT'S how I found Sol Bianca and everything else on my list.

It'll piss me off if they do a boxset of Gatekeepers though, as I would have likely saved more money, and more importantly, space, that way

Will do - I think Bandai will be coming up in the next month or so...

They also have a lot of "spend x amount of dollars, get 10 bucks off" deals during weeks when the big sales aren't going on. I usually don't post them to avoid flooding the board every week with a new coupon, but they are always in my sig.

BTW, good choice with Lain. It's got good "replay" value. wink

Honestly? I'm not entirely sure loco

I bought it because I've seen the trailer on lots of other Pioneer Anime and it didn't look too bad, and MOSTLY because it's a Studio Gonzo show. They generally release quality stuff (Vandread, Hellsing, etc...).

The official website is here. PLUS, it didn't get a bad review on Animeondvd.com, so after reading the review(s), I wasn't too sure why I skipped it as a prepurchase.

On a side note, I just finished watching Mahoromatic #1 today. There are a bunch of bare breast shots (which I personally don't mind, but like you said about Kurumi, if they took the breast shots out, it could have been considered 13 up instead of 16 up), but overall it's a pretty cool show. It sounded really silly to me at first, but it's pretty good anyway. I don't know why I ever doubted a Gainax release (EVA and His and Her Circumstances are 2 of the best series I've seen).

Mahoromatic is about a combat android (Mahoro) who, if she continues to live as a "combat" android will die in 37 days. If she stops the combat part, she'll live 395 days (maybe it was 397?). She got bored sitting around doing nothing with her life, so she contacts Vesper (the people she used to combat aliens for) to find her a job. They hook her up with a job as a maid for Suguru. During the first 4 episodes, you find out Suguru's Dad was part of Vesper and Mahoro did something "bad" to him, which is why, I suppose, she wants to serve his son so well. For 33% + the 10% you'll get for being a Got Anime member, you can't go wrong with this one.

And if you get it and don't like it, blame it on me while you're counting the change I netted you with the Rurouni Kenshin purchase (totalled like $450, I think. Hopefully it went through for you OK) and now this one I made (about $330) :)

LOL. As far as I'm concerned, whatever you suggest from this point on is golden. I won't hold it against you even if you somehow talked me into buying some all-male tentacle porn as a cruel, cruel joke... Well, maybe I would, but it'll be pretty hard to cross the line at this point. wink

But I've been pretty pleased with Gainax stuff, so I guess I'll spend *more* money on anime. Heh... looks like a new TV, surround sound, and new golf clubs are on the backburner again.

All male tentacle porn? I don't think I could even JOKINGLY recommend something like that, even to my WORST enemy. I'm just glad I've never had the misfortune of buying something like that *shudder* eek!

If/when they do the Bandai sale, you should also check out Banner of the Stars (and Crest of the Stars), if you haven't already. The show is cool and the dialogue is top knotch (subbed anyway...)

As far as the TV/Surround/Golf Clubs, look at it this way, with the TV and surround, the longer you wait (to a point) the better the stuff you can get at a cheaper price. Golf clubs... I don't think golfing "technology" changes all that frequently and I don't think I've ever seen prices change for that type of stuff (not that I check). Between the TV/Surround, if you don't already have surround, I say go for it first. Watching Mononoke in 5.1 and Jin-Roh w/ DTS is the coolest. Especially Jin-Roh with the gun firing scenes...

Anyway, glad I can help fuel your Anime addiction (and save you some cash in the long run). Hell, Animeondvd.com has a DVD Planet affiliation, and I never use that. They also have one for Rightstuf but I'd still rather hook up a person than a "site", even if the site does me a lot of good.

I know Tech TV was playing Crest of the Stars recently - I'll have to see if they're still showing it (I assume they'll cycle through it a few times). It's dubbed, but I can live with that...

I've had surround sound all 3 years of college so far, but our roommate that had the system moved out... I miss it! Problem is (same deal with the TV), it's hard to find good, detailed reviews on this kind of stuff. Most opinions I get are merely conjecture - "this brand *should* be better", "HD *should* make a huge difference with games", "you *should* be able to hear a big difference with this sound system", etc.

Seriously, though, thank you (and thank everybody else on this board) for using the links. And hey, I hook up animeondvd when I make my purchases from Rightstuf, so it all evens out. I spend too much...

Hey Nick-

I just finished watching Meltylancer. Don't buy it. If you can watch it from a friend or something, go that way. It was... OK, but not great. A lot of the character designs looked like they were borrowed from other anime and the story was only so-so. Even if it had %43 off after the Got Anime discount (it's a Bandai title, so no big percent off yet :) ), it's not worth it. If you find someone who has it, watch before you buy.

Thanks for the heads up. It's kinda at the point now where I'm buying up tons of new stuff just because it's such a good deal - I need people to dissuade me from spending all this money!

If you buy it all, I hope you enjoy a 25+ hour love story...

It was a decent show, but I don't know if I'd recommend you spending tons of cash to get it.

I love the series and in my opinion it's worth it. I guess you wouldn't have bought it if the genre didn't appeal to you, so don't worry, you'll have a great time watching it :)
