I know Enter The Dragon and Return Of The Dragon boast better fight scenes, but goddamn if I dont love Chinese Connection. It still holds the crown as my fave Bruce Lee flick. Nothing beats watching him break out the nunchaku and whipping the ass out of those poor judo students.

I should add thanks to MilkManX for getting me started on the road to martial arts film appreciation. I figure I paid him back by turning him into the loveable MVS whore he is today.

Damn straight. I think Bruce's films resonate so much because he was so similar to the characters he played...unlike Van Damme, Seagal, or any of these other action hero pussies who pose for the camera, Bruce could actually beat the living shit out of everyone in the room. So much passion, energy, raw fury...there will never be another.

When Bruce kicks one of the people through a wall, that was Jackie Chan.

The Chinese Connection is a great film...the sequences in the dojo when he kicks the shit out of everyone is one of my all time favorite movie moments.

You're right though Loopz, he had an incredible amount of fury and passion for fighting.

I think out of all his movies, his final film really offered the best look at his true ability. Game of Death fucking sucks as a movie, but the last 15 minutes or so with Bruce are my favorite martial arts scenes ever. Given what I saw in a documentary on AMC awhile ago about Bruce, had he not died and been able to complete the movie, I think it would have been his best movie ever period. He had a different vision for the movie than what it turned out as. I liked the story he had intended, not that cheap lame story line with Billy Lo being a mirror image of Bruce. Also, the footage they used from Bruce's funeral in Hong Kong was a disgrace IMO. Never should have been allowed. oh_no

During the years of when I was in 3rd grade I asked my pops if bruce had done any other movie besides Enter the Dragon which at that time was the only Bruce Lee movie I had heard of and seen. The next day he sat me down and I watched in exact order= Fists Of Fury, Chinese Connection, Return Of the Dragon, and Game Of Death( loved the opening theme ). Chinese Connection became and still is my fav Bruce movie, the Judo dojo beatdown and the Russina dude fight where the best, and Bruce can do a love scene with out making it look all cheesey.

I'm sure if he lived today there would be so many so called action movie stars with out a job

Why is it called Chinese Connection in the US? Anyway its definitely the best Bruce Lee film?

SAMHAIN you should check this dvd out. It has all the footage you mentioned and the picture is crystal clear. It was released by HKL (a UK company) who do a great job restoring martial arts films, also some of the commentaries on the films are amazing.

SAM...I'm not actually from Detroit, I just threw that up there to go with my Robocop av. My girl, however, is from Detroit. Hockey freak to the end.

Glad to see some other folks here are into the true classics. A lot of people who talk about Bruce Lee have usually only seen ETD. Let alone all the other fools who think Van Damme and Seagal are the shit. Bruce's remains could beat the shit out of both of them at the same time.

BTW Thunderfoot...why'd you ditch the Drunken Master av? That was my fave av on here. buttrock

I have the Chinese connection on DVD, except its fuckin horrible quality. It came in the Bruce Lee 2 pack for like $15. Did I just get the shitty end of the stick, or is there a better version of the movie out there that I can buy?

Peace

JHendrix,

If you wanna go all out, there's a box set of much nicer quality from 20th Century Fox. Has all the films except for Enter The Dragon which is put out by Warner Bros. I think the better versions of these films by Fox were also put out individually as well if you dont wanna put out for the whole box set.
