Just saw it last night. To my surprise I actually.....liked it. ITs not boring, the story isnt bad at all, it looks good, and the bad parts are so cheesy its awsome! There has to be other people out there who liked it too, other then John Travolta.

I've heard that it's done extremely well in European markets, so well in fact, that we may just see a sequel from it.

I delayed seeing this movie for many years because it got such bad reviews from EVERYBODY. I've heard and read numerous articles on how B.E. could be the worst movie ever made etc...

I finally saw it about 6 months ago, and I was pleasantly suprised with it. It's not the worst movie ever, I've seen many worse movies than this one. It is very corny, and it can be quite amusing at how seriously Travolta takes his part. I laughed out loud at numerous parts of the film because of the ridiculous factor. It deserves the bad reviews I think, but I still had some fun watching it, so it can't be the worst movie ever, as long as you don't take it seriously you should enjoy it somewhat if you like Sci-fi.

I enjoyed watching the movie on free television, but can someone tell me; was there a SINGLE live action scene in that movie where the camera was actually level?

Agreed. Scientology is so silly. So was battlefield earth. just the fact that the aliens wanted gold was silly.

Its not as bad as everybody made it out to be. The only problem, from a moviemaking point of view, is that there are so many dutch/canted angles in the film its almost nauseating.

Yeah, i really liked this movie. Atmospherically, it was really well put together. Some of the FX landscape shots were amazing. Acting? Notsomuch.

Still, not as bad as some cynics like to say it is.

It wasn't great, but it wasn't that bad, either. First of all, even though I haven't read 'Battlefield: Earth', I have read several of Hubbard's 'Invasion Earth' series, and they are full of irony and humor. They are meant to be funny. The movie wasn't as funny as it probably should have been, but it still had it's moments, like when the aliens try to get 'leverage' over the humans by tempting them with their favorite food, which is (of course), rat. They determoned this by setting the humans loose and watching what the first thing was that they ate. Of course, there wasn't any food where the humans were released, and they were starving when they finally found something they could eat (rats). wink

You know, Harlan Ellison said something once that I thought was pretty interesting. Despite not knowing Hubbard personally, yet being familiar with his literary work, Ellison felt that the 'Church of Scientology' was created by Hubbard as a huge joke. wink Man, if true, that's pretty damn funny. :D

I liked Battlefield Earth. I will be the first to admit that it fails miserably as a serious movie, but it's still definetly enjoyable.

While on the topic I notice people mentioning Waterworld and The Postman. I also like both of those movies. Good flicks, imo.

I enjoyed The Postman, but Waterworld just plain sucked.
