Ah, this is sweet news indeed.

Heck, they could have said that Shenmue 3 would be on the Dreamcast for all I care, as long as it's a GAME and not a movie.

But this is certainly encouraging buttrock

damn straight!

infact if it used the same game engine as the previous games i'b be more than happy, despite what reviewers say i think Shenmue II looks better than most next-gen games. But to have it built ground up on Xbox is just an added bonus! buttrock buttrock

SEGA must really love us XBOX owners and that's great. Now if only we could get Bare Knuckles 4: Out For Blood with high res sprites in the biggest brawler ever with music by Yuzo Koshiro I'd run out and slap a police officer eating a donut in his vehicle just for the heck of it.

Thank god! This is great news! My favorite game series will continue on my favorite game console!

What I found particularly reassuring was this statement:

Q: Nice, what about remakes of AM2 games for Xbox then?
A: If there is enough demand by fans to release a remake of a certain game, we will try oure best to accommodate. :D :D :D

Not only that, but it's reassuring to see that perhaps Shenmue III WON'T be the final game in the series! At least according to what was written on the whiteboard, it seems the chapter structure goes on to Shenmue 4 and beyond!

I hope they don't change the style of the graphics too much...I really like the graphics as they are now, but adding some more polygons, better texture mapping, faster loading and additional effects would be just fine! I just hope that AM2 doesn't give the series a complete facelift as I feel a lot would be lost in the transition!

On Xbox?!?

SEGA really don't want to sell this in Japan...

Can't understand, really...

At least on PS2 it would have a worldwide market...

I truly don't understand SEGA managment... oh_no

Q: Why on the Xbox?
A: The hardware is very powerful, so that makes it easier for us to realize our visions for the series.
Thisbasically means that they want to make the best game they can and then based on the game not the user base it will sell. Basically that the game sells it's self, not the system that it is based off of. Hell I don't care what system it is released on as long as it is not a movie :D I commend them on their effort to make the best game possible, not shun them for their descissions.

this movie is love.
i wish this trailer was available on the game or something.
the music is great and its used in the fights or some minigame.
i remember i watched this trailer about 20 times
in anticipation of sm2
edit:
it seems to be doing some strange cliping thing.
maybe i should try to compress the one i dled along time
ago and upload that.
still great.

wink
this interview really is pretty neat and
informative though.
shen mue is one of my favorites.
not that it ever has been the best playing game.
or is paced how many people would like.
but is just so fun for me at least.
you cant imagine all the fun i ve had just learning
all the cool moves that ryo learns.
this game really makes me want to learn tai chi.
you know...
kicking peoples asses in slow motion and with the
least amount of effort just like david carradine
did in kung fu.

The same engine would be very sweet indeed, but what it needs is something that could do better textures than some used on the people. The Mexican arm wrestler is downright eek! !

Aside from some of those textures, the DC version was just fine. But, as with most games in any series, once it hits more powerful hardware, the next step is always to update the graphics as the hardware permits.

Happens with every series, not just Shenmue.

what i think the problem with the wrestlers were
was a lower than sufficient polygon count.
they need more in the arm pit.
admittedly a harder area for 3d people i think.
but if sm 3 is made from the ground up on xbox
then i m sure the characters will be better looking
if they make the next game without the dam load times
i ll be all over this bitch.
one of my few complaints about the sm series.

Well since its being built from the ground up on Xbox hardware you know its gonna be an extremely huge expansive and detailed game. That just makes me all giddy. He said there is also gonna be some virtua Fighter esque fighting styles in there and just that alone makes my sex fall out.

eek! There is a god!!! Finally we get confirmation that Shenmue III is coming out, and on the X Box no less. I thought it would of been the end of gaming as I know it if the Shenmue series was completed. I just hope it comes out before support for the X Box stops.

LONG LIVE SEGA!!!

Yeah Rarehero and Argentina94; i think the Wrestlers in particular look quite bad in the arms/ body is because you'll notice the other NPC's are wearing clothes over the top part of they're bodies which use a low poly count. :cool It's not too noticable though, and certainly doesn;t detract from the game.

Rare: You really think the loading times are bad? whilst i admit they can get annoying if you move areas a lot at least you get the area name, date, time , music e.t.c to look at, (and a momet to pick up your drink wink ) so it's not all bad. buttrock

i usually play my games late at night.
load times make me sleepy.
and droopy eyes makes it especially hard to do qte games.
but thats besides the point.
its good that you get music in between the scenes.
and quite honestly. i dont think the load times
detract from the actual feel of the game.
it seems to flow nicely.
but load times in general piss me off really.
especially when you think they are porting it from
DC to xbox.
i was hoping for nil load times via the harddrive.
but its more or less a carbon of the DC with a few
pros and a few cons taken away.
i do love the picture taking option.
i used them all. but thats all in a almost years worth of
working on it?
they could have done more i think.
but i always am looking forward to the next time
:)
