If I were to buy a 3DO, which to get?
Why?

Any great games?

I want to snag one just for DOOM and its music...
What should i look out for?

Thanks,
Ray

I like the original 3DO (FZ-10) just for stylistic reasons. You might want to pick up SSF2Turbo and Sam Sho, both are great (once you get past the 3DO controller). Way of the Warrior is good for a laugh, and Killing Time and PO'ed are good FPS titles for the 3DO.

The Original is the FZ-1 not FZ-10.

Exactly.
The FZ-10 is the machine to go for IMHO.
Some of the FZ-1 disc drives had a tendency to die(mine did),and some games (Space Hulk,Crash & Burn) don't work properly on the Goldstar Machines.(The Goldstar is the only one with a working MPEG-Cart,though)
The FZ-10 also has a built-in memory manager, something that could on the FZ-1 only be done with a copy of Wing Commander3 or The Interactive Sampler Nr.3

BTW,the Doom-version on 3DO is the worst one EVER!
Even the SNES-version is better!!
And there are none of the additional levels, weapons, monsters,or video sequences that were originally announced! frown

pass on the clam shell piece of crap , get the origional front loader , even if one does die they are cheap as hell to replace.

I bought mine after the first price break and it has been used alot and it still works just fine.

There are plenty of fun games to be had , lots of trash as well.

here are a few things to check out

Most of the games published by EA were excellent,
in particular 'Road Rash 2', and 'Escape from Monster Manor'.

I think there was already a thread about good 3DO games in Unrelated before. Lots of people posted a bunch of ideas and stuff, you might want to look for it with the new search feature.

As for great games...

You can't go wrong with Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. There exist a small contingent of nay-sayers, but its a damned great version.

And for some odd reason, FIFA International Soccer. Sure, there are modern variants, but again- for some odd reason, the 3DO version has some kind of irrevocable charm.

That and the SS port. But then again, this is a Neo Geo group... glee
