Just received mint copy of Euro Mega Drive Alien Soldier this afternoon. Since I can't afford the JPN copy then I have to search really hard for Euro one.

Someone sent me an email last December asking if I'm willing to trade my JPN Eternal Arcadia Limited Box edition for his Mega Drive Alien Soldier plus $40.

Of course I'm willing to do such a good trade :)

Now all I need to do is go home and play this game tonight drool_2

I've been waiting to own this game for the past 8 years...... drool

I think I'm almost done with my Mega Drive/Genesis collection. Maybe just buy 3 or 4 more common games (Golden Axe 3, Devil Hunter YohKo, Double Dragon II and Gynoug) and that's about it :)

MD Alien Soldier is pure gaming greatness. I felt weird forking over big bucks for the JPN copy I had NBMan track down for me, but I'll be damned if it wansn't worth every penny. Even if you've got the cash to spare, finding the JPN version is NO EASY TASK. Now that I've got my copy, it's never getting sold.

i passed up a complete copy of this game (euro) for £6.99 ($10 tops) at the local gamestation.

however it intrigued me and i looked it up on ebay and saw the rediculous prices it was fetching, i went back to get it almost immediately and it had gone when i got back :(

so i downloaded the rom to see what all the fuss was about, and pfft, i thought it was very lacking. about 10 levels and 10 million bosses, sigh. Gunstar was much better IMO.

There are two things I've noticed make JPN differs from Euro copy:

- manual in color
- One line is missing in the title screen

I'm very happy with what I got so I'm a happy man now.

I've seen 16-bit has one JPN copy for sale for $199 on eBay not long ago.

I don't have that kinda money :(

All I need to find out is how am I going to play this game on my US Genesis since it has region lockout

Why don't you just get a Euro/PAL Megadrive? Easier than tampering with the system or game...

BTW, I've been thinking of getting Alien Soldier for the Megadrive, is it a Euro and Jpn game only?

I have US Genesis 1, 2, and 3, plus CDX
JPN Mega Drive

I don't want to get PAL Mega Drive..... :(

I will try to use GameGenie and see if game will work or not (I have codes already)

Yes, Alien Soldier is for Euro/JPN, no US release. Stupid SOA......gggrrrrrrrr

It's so damn hard........

I can't even past the first level.

Funny thing is that the game music is very similar to Gunstar Heroes

Well, from what I've seen of it, the game is comprised of almost all boss battles.

But isn't there a special move that allows you to trade enemy shots for life?
That feature sounds really cool to me...

And speaking of Megadrive games...

Why do I keep hearing that the JPN versions of Bare Knuckle 3 and Hokuto No Ken are uncensored, unlike the US counterparts?

What did they do to take out the original blood/gore in the JPN versions? Is it a territory lockout thing or what?

Same.

It usually pops up here for around £12 - £15 in Gamestation.

But i too dont think its up to much.......sure it looks ok, but the thing is just too damn hard, and lacking in veriety.

Definately a play before you buy.

I finally got my own jap MD collection off the ground with Magical flying turbo hat adventure & Outrun..........at least its a start buttrock

JPN versions are much better.

SOA removed the sissy boss from US Streets of Rage 3

SOA also removed blood and body explosion after you hit the enemies in US Last Battle

That's why I'm only going to buy the Megadrive versions of Bare Knuckle 3 and Fist of the North Star...

Especially for that sissy boss! buttrock

Not to forget they changed the colours of the sprites to a more 'gender-neutral' tone! loco
Turning RED-hot Blaze into innocent SnowWHITE definitely hurts! smirk
