I have seen alot of members on this board and people on ebay selling Playstation 1 RPG's for alot of money.

Where do you guys think this market is going? I am not asking this for price jacking reasons but just personal interest. I have a complete US Square collection and every other US RPG that was made for the US PS1.

I would never sell my collection my Sons love them and it is one of the things I want my grandkids to enjoy.

Just wondering what you guys thought. Lets discuss this :)

Man, I've been thinking the same thing!

I got a mint condition Xenogears, FF7-9 =P

Seriously, I've seen Xenogears go for like 60 to 70 bucks. And you don't need me to tell you about Crono Trigger =)

I'm not sure about the value of the FF's, although, FFT is in demand right now so, the price is probably somewhere through the roof in the sky.

I wouldn't expect the one shot title RPGs to go up a huge amount in price, but the earlier games in potential long-running series I think are going to rise as more and more sequels come out for them.

I mean, after Suikoden III came out the price for suikoden II jumped up real quick. Sealed copies are going for like $170 now...
Same thing with Xenogears, After Xenosaga ep 1 is released (next week buttrock ) the price of xenogears is probably going to rise and it will probably rise more when the next episode of Xenosaga comes out.

Never gonna sell my collection either. Just too many fond memories. You'll have to pry my Xenogears away from my cold dead hands.

I don't think the PSX RPG market is going fluctuate anytime soon, (prices may go up a bit as sequels are released). I mean for a lot of the RPG's on playstation so many copies were produced. FFT is in demand but there seem to be a million copies of it, wherever i go i always see it for sale used. Same with the rest of the Final Fantasy series. There just seem to be a lot of psx games out there in general. What are some rarer psx rpg's anyway? I know Xenogears is sought after and sells for a fairly high price. I saw a copy of Tactics Ogre selling pretty high on this board too, i hadn't realized it was hard to come by. I bought my copy straight from Atlus' website for $30 several years ago.

Awww yes the memories!! So many great games.

I have a neighbor who has been trying to get my Xeno for 2 years...LOL

After seeing what Suikoden 2 is going for it is a running joke in my house I am going to sell it and everytime I mention it my Sons are like "But Daaaaad"...LOL.

good old games are costing as much as good current ones. I bought street fighter collection a week before they discontinued it... you know how much it goes for now? 70! think about it

edit: you know hoow much I bought the game for when it was out? 30! that's worth more than twice as much!

The ps1 was flooded with mediocre rpgs, all of which were 50 bucks upon release. Its no wonder some of them are rare. I mean seriously who has the time and money to buy and play through so much crap.

....

But I have a minty Xenogears that might show up on ebay if the market keeps going up....

Yeah some were just so so but if you are an RPG fan the PS1 was the greatest system of all time, second I would say would be the SNES.

Everybody talks shit about Sony but I think the PS1 was one of the greatest systems in history and I have had them all or do have them all :)

I agree that the ps1 is the RPG machine to have.
The ps1 may have been poor in other areas, but no system can touch the sheer amount of good RPGs that there are for the ps1. I could make a list about a mile long.
Best game on the system: Xenogears. I don't know how anyone could ever sell that game :)

True that. The PS1 is to RPG's what the Neo is to 2D Fighters.
I know alot of people who love Xeno but I think my favorite is still Final Fantasy 7!!!!

My wife watched me play the whole thing from begining to end every night till I beat it!!

When it was over we both looked at eachother and said wow now what? It was a journey we didnt want to end!!!

Nothing in this world is better than a good game!!!

Dont you just love it?

Word.

Like a lot of people, I got into the 16-bit RPG scene a little late (but still early enough to get stuff for non-inflated prices). Because I got in late, though, I gained some appreciation for how tough it was to find some of these titles in complete condition. With the PSX, I was there from the get-go, and picked up most everything on or shortly after it's release.

I think that's the problem predicting rising prices for PS1 RPGs - I was able to get everything without any trouble, and I've seen countless copies of these games in stores years ago...

But even so, I remember seeing copies of Xenogears and Suikoden 2 for 30-40 bucks just last year, and look at the prices now. These games may not be as rare as SNES RPGs of the same price, but the demand is there. I *don't* see prices dropping - at worst they'll stay about the same, and I guess I'd have to say that I can see prices rising on some of the true gems.

Like the Saturn RPG's PSX RPG's are going to skyrocket. I still remeber the dumb s**t that bought a sealed FF7 (non-greatest hits) for over $200. Suikoden & Suikoden II fetch $25+ and $45+ respectively. Xenogears demanded big dollars until they re-released it twice. And don't forget Final Fantasy Tactics fetching almost $90 before it went to greatest hits. Tactics Ogre and Orge Battle go for...yatta yatta yatta.

PSX has kicked out some of the greatest RPG's of all time and (obviously) has the best RPG library with the SNES a being a very close second. I see the prices going up up up.
