Its kinda hard for me to pick one. since i have all 3 system. and each of the 3 console. have different add on character. box have spawn,PS2 have Hitachi or what ever his name is and gamecube have Link. so.....which one will you pick? i might go for the box cause i'm a huge spawn fan. =)

Well, PS2 version is the obvious last choice if you have all three systems.

It all boils down to the XBOX or GC. And I am not sure yet. I'm keen on Link, so I will likely chose the GC version as it's graphics will be just as good as the XBOX ver., maybe a bit less good. But all three versions look great.

If only the XBOX ver was Live...

I want to stay away from the cube cause playing fighting game on the controller is the experience you don't want to have. do you think namco have a chance of putting all 3 character on all 3 console? ummmmm probabably not.

Hori is releasing fighting sticks to coincide with the release of SC2. So you could pick up one of those and then you wouldn't have to worry about playing fighting games with your regular GC pad. Thats what im going to do.

Any version will be fine. The PS2 port is pretty much confirmed to be arcade perfect as the arcade version runs on a similar hardware.BTW, Namco says that they are making all 3 versions look as identical as possible with no sacrifices for either versions.
I saw one of the vids where Heihachi does his 10 hit string and i was impressed at the speed. It comes out faster than it did in Tekken.Heihachi is gonna rock.
I am sure Link for the GC version will be a big draw.As for spawn, i am not too sure.I haven't seen him in action yet...

i like spawn , so i'll be getting the xbox version. Also my Cube is PAL , and my Box is US, so i wont have to wait eons for the PAL release if i go xbox either.

i can play fighters alrighty with the s-pad, but i will prbably get a magic box adapter and use it with a saturn hori stick :)

Sorry, the XBox version will clearly be the best of the bunch, based on Namco's skill in getting the maximum performance out of any system. That isn't hard to predict, and clearly the PS2 version will be well below the others in terms of graphics and sound. True that there are no good fighting sticks out for XBox yet, but I think there may be some out once this game hits, or you can use the XBox controller adapter with other PSX/PS2 sticks.

On a side note, am I the only one that thinks Link as a fighting character is a totally GAY idea? I mean seriously, given the choice of Spawn or Link, which one would you choose? I've seen a few screenshots of Link as a fighting character in SC2, and he looks totally ridiculous . . . like an overgrown boy. Doesn't fit in at all with the rest of the cast of characters in SC2. oh_no

There might be an add on later with new character, new stage...etc for xbl. that would be a killer if namco decide to have those feature.

No, but I go a step furthur and think ALL the extra characters are completely retarded! WTF do Link and Spawn have to do with the Soul Calibur universe? They're not even Namco characters.

Even putting Heihachi really demeans the game. I'm a big Yoshimitsu fan, and having him in SC was very cool, making him into an "imortal" type character. Is that how they're going to explain Heihachi as well? Too bad they're won't be a "non-extra-character" pure version on home system.

Sorry to be a downer on this, I just had to express my disgust as a fan of the series. Carry on. :)

I have to agree. All the extra characters are gay and they have no place in Soul Calibur. But the extra characters are there and i can't change that. The extra characters wont be influencing my decision on which version to get. I hope to import one of those Hori sticks for GC so i can use it to play Ikaruga when it comes out Stateside so i can pretend i am at the arcade. And lastly i need a good fighting game for my Cube and soul calibur 2 will satisfy my need.

Come on, Spawn fits in a lot better than Link!!! I mean come on, a fairy cartoon character from a happy kids series of games and comics, or a dark demented character from McFarlane's twisted comics and TV adaptations? Link is totally out of place as a fighting character!

What is Link's main attack going to be, the "Wind Breaker"?!?! lol lol lol

I'm fairly torn on this desicion now. I guess I'll see how quickly EA are planning on bringing the game over to ther UK.
If its gonna be ages I'll get the GC version as I have a modded US/Jap machine. But if its gonna be fairly soon after the japanese release, I dunno - I guess I'll read the inevitable IGN 'comparison' article and make my choice based largely on that.

I'm sorely tempted by Link in the GC version, but the GC is the machine which is most likely to have a messed-up control scheme (and I dont really want to buy an extra pad for one game).
If it controlls as well as Bloody Roar:PF I'll be happy.

I don't see it man.
If you're going to argue that Link has no place in the Soul Calibur series, then you cannot seriously consider SPAWN a better addition.
Why not just include Batman?

I agree that Spawn doesn't fit into the series too well (thematically), but in terms of DEGREE, he fits better than Link, who really doesn't fit at all. Thats all I am saying. But in the end anyone playing the game can mostly ignore those characters (unless you have to fight them in single player mode), so I guess it doesn't really matter that much.

Isn't it kind of funny how almost everyone makes it seem like the PS2 version of SC2 and PS2 games in general are like 10 years behind their GC and Xbox counterparts? Please, the differences will be minimal at best.

Too bad there's no Hyper Neo 64 port of the game as it would be nice to see Genjuro and Kaede as the hidden characters :D .

Actually what Playmore should do is get Namco to make em a Sam Sho or Last Blade using the Soul Calibur engine :) .
