Why did I think Xenosaga was a Squaresoft game?

I think I recalling hearing that the team that worked on Xenogears was a separate division under the supervision of Squaresoft. It seems that Namco has acquired them.

from what i recall, the head guy from the xenogears team was dissapointed with how it turned out. he didn't get to do everything that he wanted to, or how he wanted to. so, he found another company that would let him do it how he wanted. so, xenosaga is part one of the story he originally wanted to tell. xenogears is part of the same storyline. part 5 i think.
thats what i recall hearing, but i'm probably wrong. :D

The Xenogears team originally left Sqaure to form Monolith (not the guys who made the Blood series for PC) but were picked by Namco when they couldn't fund the whole production.
