Ok, I'm getting pissed off at UPS...
I've had several problems with them already, but this one takes the cake:

I got this package that was sent via UPS, back in early November. I had to pay CAN$56 for duty and brokerage fee ( which is bull already but that's beside the point ).

I get this notice now that I still owe the fee...
So I call them to explain that I paid the fee when I got the package ( the driver wouldn't let me have it if I hadn't ), the operator told me, that according to their records, the package had been sent back to the sender, because they had been unable to deliver it.

I have the stuff that was in the package, left positive feedback on eBay, the seller left positive feedback, and they tell me I never got it?

Anyway, the operator told me that she was going to send a note to the brokerage dept. to inform them that the fee had been paid to the driver w/ cash...

LESSON OF THE DAY : If you get a package that you have to pay a fee on, use your VISA to pay for it, not cash...It can be easily traced. ;)

UPS can go and ......can't think of anything that is vulgar enough.

Every second package I get via UPS and pay brokerage fees on, I get billed for it later ( double ) , too. Then I have to call them so they can say, oh don't worry, according to our records, you've paid it already.... So why did they send the invoice then????

Advice of the day:

If your UPS driver is black, use common sense and ignore the commercials. Don't call him "brown". You'll find your driver will start dropping the parcels on your porch instead of setting them there.

Just a suggestion.

My second job is as loader at the UPS plant in Clawson, MI. I only work there about 4 hours a night, but it does provide some extra cash and great benefits. I don't even pull or scan the packages, I build the fucking box walls inside the trailers.

You are right, talk to anyone at UPS and I guarantee you they don't give a fuck about you, your package, or your problem. We're all union so you can't really get us fired.

Yep, in another 2-3 years I'll be a driver making 70,000 a year just to drive a truck and drop off boxes. Now if you don't mind I have some more of your packages to smash, kick, punch, mangle, and shit in.

Just remember, "What can Brown do for you?".

Ha, Ha, Ha! Suck on that fat dick you bitch!

Ahhhh UPS workers, best bunch of the bottom of the barrel. I can't stand UPS, I personally won't use them ever. If thats all a company ships, I take my business elsewhere. Last package I ordered and shipped through ups (this Christmas actually) took over a month to get here, was routed all over the country, returned to sender twice, and was all beat up by the time I got it. Yeah right, you guys can just rot in hell, you have one job, get a box from point A to B, and you can't even do that. Fucking idiots, be proud that you are fucking morons... Thats good, being like that is easier then actually doing a good job.

Whatever, I am 100% anti UPS now... I have had numerous problems with them and now I will never ever use them again... I recommend everyone else to follow suite. Sure, we can't really do much to hurt such a big company, but it is a personal stance, and that should mean something.

I almost ship everything via USPS Priority Mail.

I have shipped probably 10 packages in the last 60 days and everyone made it to where was suppose to go in the allocated time frame. And didn't show up like fuckin Ace Ventura delivered it.

FUCK UPS! FUCK THEM IN THEIR STUPID ASS!

It's simple. Just use the US Postal Service. They're reliable, fast, and are making decent progress in becoming more consumer friendly.

Yeah, UPS is total crap. I get crazy duty and Brokerage fees every other package I recieve. And EVERY package I get there is some sort of hassle.

The US and Canadian post office provide so much more for so much less. When buying from the states where the seller has already offered UPS shipping, I will try from now on to get them to ship via USPS Airmail with tracking etc.

You can tell when you call UPS that they don't give a shit about their customers...

I've actually stopped buying from certain places because they started shipping only with UPS (www.ncsx.com did that for awhile) of which I've told them over the phone. On the other hand, there are other places (www.ebworld.com for example) that I purchase stuff from BECAUSE they ship FedEx. If I could get every package shipped to me via FedEx I would be a happy man.

Oh, and here's another UPS story. My mother sent me a small (real) Christmas tree via UPS. Not only did it arrive a week late, the package was all busted up and, of course, the tree was already DEAD by the time I got it.

In summary: UPS fucking sucks.

UPS is such a pain. I have to force people to send things over here by USPS because UPS always seems to charge brokerage fees EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NO DUTY OR TAXES ON THE MERCHANDISE!

It's annoying to have to pay 45$ because someone paid the 12$ GST on a parcel at the border.

I used to work for Loomis Courier Service for over 5 years as a packer and then driver and I have to agree with BJMFH that as union worker, no one gave a flying fuck about your packages.

Since I've had first hand experience and their brokerage fees are outrageous (I paid $92 CDN to release KOF 2000 yesterday ), I always suggest to sellers to use USPS. I NEVER had a problem receiving packagers from them, even if they may have arrived a few days late, the point is they arrived well with NO fees.

All courier company workers are ball lickers, so thank God I stopped licking balls over 4 years ago.

I can't wrap my mind around this brokerage fee concept. Someone help me.

Is this like a tax or something?

I'm not 100% sure but it's something like this. When something crosses the border, then there is the possibility that the item will be taxed and/or have customs charges applied to it.

If there are charges applied to it, then the parcel is held at the border until someone pays the amount. In some case it's some type of broker that will "lend" the amount for a special fee. Leaving the recipient of the parcel, once delivered, to pay for the customs charges, taxes and Brokerage fee.

Now, if you use regular postal service and most other carriers like Purolator, DHP and FedEx, they won't charge you a cent if your parcel wasn't taxed or required any customs charges (at least here in Canada). UPS, in about 80% of the time, will charge you at least 30$ in brokerage fees even if your parcel did not incur any charges what-so-ever.

In some cases, the carriers will require you to pay in order to receive the parcel. FedEx (I believe) has the nasty habit of not notifying you of any charges and will send you a bill a month or so down the road requesting payment. I can't complain though, as you don't get caught with racing around the house looking for loose change in order to pay the person delivering your package. :p

EDIT: forgot to mention, Canada Postal Service along with most other carriers have "brokerage fees" starting around 5$ to 10$. UPS starts at 30$ and then seems to add 1$ for every dollar paid out. :(

INFACT

come to think of it - years ago when i first got my dvd player

i ordered a bunch of dvd's from Game Cave

then when the shitty brown van pulled up outside my house they wanted £57 in charges

around £40 in import, £8 went to Ups + the other £9 was some sort of government tax

when i complained he told me they were gonna take the stuff back to the depot and i could pick it up there and if i left it over 2 weeks they would be sent back

the guy was a complete tool - my father in law subbed me £50 and i managed to scrape the other £7 from my cars ashtray (held quite alot)

the guys face was a picture as he walked away with his hands cupped holding £7 in copper coins

I don't use UPS either, and I get a discount because I work there. I've seen first hand how the packages are handled.

All joking aside here's what the deal is, the amount of volume and the speed at which the volume comes at you is crazy. Everything has to loaded up into these big trailers at a specific time. This time is set in stone, you have to make it.

The during the small 4 hour shift I work there, we get about 8000 packages that have to be loaded within 4 hours. Our crew consists of 8 guys. Three unload, the other 5 either scan, pull, or build walls. The average weight of a package that come through my plant is 60 lbs. Some are much lighter, others are much heaver. You guys do the math.

It's not like anyone at UPS sets out to bust your boxes up. I don't ever come into work with the specific intention of destroying someone's package. It just ends up happening because things are so rushed. If things were slower, then we would have the time to treat each package with respect. All we know is if that conveyer belt is stopped because somebody is working too slow, somebody's getting their ass reamed out.

We aren't dicks at UPS, we just don't have time to care.

ok, gotta be the odd ball, i know... BUT....
the chick who delivers to my house for UPS is suppa fine, so i allways gladly accept UPS, but i make sure that its sent with the sig required, that way, i getta check her out when i answer the door.

but that is my reason for liking UPS, that and its an anagram for United Pot Smokers.
