Inu-Yasha: Anyone know anything about the DVDs?

Preferably when more are going to come out? I've been to Pioneer's site (2 of them) and neither one of them actually mention release dates for the next DVDs... Well I'm waiting for a box set actually, but I'm still curious to know what is going on.

All help appreciated, thanks.

It's actually a release similar to Ranma. Viz does the "work" and Pioneer does the distribution. Of course Viz doesn't have ANYTHING on the series on their site at all.

Next DVD comes out on February 4th.

I'm not sure if they are doing a box set or not.

Last thing, if you just want to see the series and don't mind watching in English, you can always watch it on the Adult Swim (if it's still on there).

It's a cool series, from what I've seen so far anyway (I avoided Adult Swim and bought the DVDs). I just wish they'd put more episodes per disc on them

At 3 episodes per DVD, I would avoid them.

The adult swim versions are 99% pure, where in a few select scenes (like hotsprings) they digitally raised the water level to cover busoms.

At least its not a digibikini.

Too bad I have no desire to watch an English dub.

I don't want anyone to think that I feel Adult Swim is a bad thing. If it gets people to watch Anime, it's a good thing. And it's especially a good thing when they don't cut anything out. I applaud their efforts with Bebop.

ive seen it on adultswim, but i missed a few episodes so it sucks watching it on there... i figure that if a box set ever comes out, it'd be worth it just to buy that since it'll be a hella lot cheaper than buying the dvds seperately.

what sucks though is that so far 2 dvds were released which is only 6 episodes out of the 80 something that are in existance (i think it's still being worked on in japan).

Cartoon Network has the rights to 50 something episodes, so it'll be a while before i can see the episodes i missed and even watch everything that they have the rights to...

And I'd prefer to watch it uncensored ;)

Call me a n00b, but the English dub seems to be about perfect if you ask me.

US anime fans have no idea how good they have it. If you were buying the Japanese Inuyasha DVDs, you'd be getting a whopping two episodes per disc, at a list price of something like 4800 yen each. And that's with absolutely no extras except for the occasional creditless opening.

It's a damn good series (Takahashi's best, next to Maison Ikkoku). Sure, it'd be nice if they put more episodes per disc, but it's still the best deal going, by a very, very wide margin. So quitcherbitchin' and buy 'em.

No, no, no. You've got me all wrong. n00b or not, as long as you enjoy watching Anime, in ANY language, I'm happy for you.

Personally I prefer the Japanese tracks to the English tracks because the lines seem to come from actors who are REALLY acting. It's kind of like watching a Disney movie. Disney movies try to capture the way the actor acts. ThHe English dub is like an after thought, and not because the actors don't try.

I THINK English dubs would turn out with a lot better feeling into them if they put everyone in a room together, like the Japanese do, and record the dub that way. It's too hard for an actor to play off of moving art on a screen, when all they hear are beeps in a microphone and no other voices.

And to anyone that thinks watching in Japanese you can't tell if the voice acting is bad or not, you are wrong. The truth is that it IS hard to find a bad Japanese dub (but it happens). You can tell when they are putting feeling into their lines. To me, it's just as obvious the amount of feeling they put into it, as it is obvious how much feeling is missing from the English dub.

And to prove my point, I prefer the Tenchi English to Japanese. Ryoko's English voice owns! And I like the character a lot as well.
