It is way overrated but it doesn't mean it's bad. It's more of the 'thinking mans' shooter than your out and out blastfest. Never played Silvergun myself.

It definitely asks for a bit more brains than your usual shooter, but its definitely one of the best. I personally don't think it's overrated myself, but maybe I just haven't seen some of the stuff Pliskin has.

I like it. Graphics is clean and well done, sound is great, action is non-stop. Hard as heck (for me anyway) and to do any decent combos, you have to memorize and have good skills.

I like RS better, but Ikaruga is still very good.

excellent graphics, music and control. shitty game.

it doesn't feel like a shooter to me - more like a puzzle game with the stupid black and white theme. The black and white theme didn't work for Michael Jackson, it didn't work for Electronic Arts, and it's not working at all for Treasure.

Good ideas, but poorly executed. Wonderful graphics and sound, tight control, but the hit detection is flawed and inconsistant. One of the worst 2 player games as well: You actually bump into each other!

I like it. Though, I don't like most "normal" shooters. Most shooters are just silly-stupid. You blast away most enemies before they even get on the screen... what the hell fun is that? I want some enemies with some integrity. The cool thing about Ikaruga, like Radiant, is that with the "puzzle" like aspect of the gameplay, the WHOLE LEVEL becomes your enemy. You have to completely disect the gameplay in order to figure out how to get the most points (this IS a play-for-points type of game... remember those? NOT a completion game). I can't tell you how much fun I had with Radiant - drawing maps of each level, figuring out the most point-worthy chains. That was FUN. I know, when I finally decide to get my own copy, Ikaruga will give me that same feeling.
