Just got me a mint copy of the original version of MUSHA which strangely enough is actually called "Full Metal Fighter Ellinor ALESTE" according to the title screen with no wording of MUSHA (at least in English) at all.

Anyhow, as most know this is one of the all time greats for shooters, came out in 1990... and here it is 2003 and I still can't beat this dang game! I always make it to the last stage and then that's it. It's Spriggan PCE DUO version is a bit easier than this. I'm going to keep trying of course (heck I just beat Golden Axe after 12 years) but I was wondering just who in here has actually beaten ALESTE?

Spriggan and Aleste are two different series. The Aleste series actually had it's first game on the MSX home computer. There was Aleste 1, 2, and Gaiden made for that system... all were pretty cool, though I tend to lean towards 2 and Gaiden the most. I've never owned MUSHA, though, so I can't tell you much about it. I played it for a couple minutes at a friend's house one day, but didn't take much interest in it.

Edit: Musha came out in December of '90, so... if you are going to guage your time by years, you still have a little more than 49 weeks to keep your 12 year par up ;)

MUSHA Aleste kicks ass. My last try, I'd almost beaten it...that last level is just a rough ride.
Fucking great classic shooter though. They just don't make em like they used to.

Musha wasnt hard to me at all. Play Thunder Force IV(aka Lightening Force) on the MegaDrive/Genesis and you will learn the meaning of hard. With Musha just stick to one type of weapon till you get it maxed out( I like the Missiles myself) and I always put the bits on reverse mode. Try that. ;)

I have beaten MUSHA several times two weeks after I got this baby in 90.

I love the graphic and music so much. One thing makes me surprise is that it's only 4 meg!

Compile's early work was Blazing Lazer on TG-16.

I have PC Engine Spriggan 1 & 2 in hand as well.

Compile knows how to make a good shooter.

For odd reason I've seen tons of MUSHA at KBToys for $14.99 in 1993................

I've been meaning to track this one down...I thought MUSHA was a stand alone title. So your copy never mentions Metalic Uniframe Super Hybrid Armor? Fill me in.

As far as I known Metal Uniframe Super Hybrid Armor --MUSHA-- was the title that was given in the USA, though the Kanji above the name ALESTE might very well say "MUSHA" but on the title screen it says *Full Metal Fighter Ellinor* then ALESTE, so I'm thinking that most ppl know it as MUSHA but it was one of the few times that an American title actually sounded cool. If any knows more about this please post here.

No way, MUSHA ALeste has always kicked my ass and if im honest, even after all this time im totally lame at it.

Compile were one of the great shooter producers, wonder what happend to them??

For more Aleste related fun, there are two matersystem Aleste games that were released as Power Strike many moons ago, and more recently Power Strike 2(about 95 i believe).

I wish I was as good at Musha today as I was 10 years ago.

Back in the good 'ol days I could beat Musha on hard and get the better ending. These days I'm just too lazy to put the practice into it that I did back then. Now I just plug in the "game enhancer" and set the invincibility code.

You wanna know what became of them.

PUYO PUYO

That is about all they make now is new versions of that addicting puzzle game. The only recent shooter I know is the PSX Zanac(sic). Loopz has it and its great.
