Are there any anamorphic editions of the Killer & Hard Boiled DVDs?

I have the Criterion dvd editions and they are not anamorphic and have crappy covers. I got so mad I used them as frisbees. Broke the bitches in two.

Now does anyone know where I can get anamorphic editions?

I'm not sure about that man, but the Chinese video store I once worked at had a version of THE KILLER (on VHS though) that is 145 minutes, a bit longer than the print in use which is like 120 minutes if I remember correctly. Mostly extra violence in the church scenes.

The Criterion Killer and Hard Boiled fetch $120 and $60 on Ebay... I hope you didn't REALLY use them as frisbees...

The reason the Criterion versions weren't anamorphic is because NO anamorphic master existed when the DVDs were made.

To answer your question, there IS an anamorphic DVD of the Killer. What's the rub? It's a PAL (Region 2) 2 disc set. Currently it doesn't seem to be available any other way in the anamorphic format. You can read a description of all the LD/DVD releases here.

As far as Hard Boiled, I'm not too sure about an anamorphic version. Look it up on google and see what somes up. I THINK HB also has an Anamorphic release in Region 2, and I THINK that's the only way it is available, currently, in the Anamrophic format. I could be wrong of course.

Didya?

You just wish you owned a real Criterion Killer. And all those Ebay bootleg versions don't count. ;)

I have this 'the killer'

106049m.jpg

It has widescreen 16:9 anamorphic.

And this 'Hard Boiled'

91560m.jpg

Which also has 16:9 anamorphic.

The Killer is a Region 2 release whilst the Hard Boiled is the 'Tartan Asia Extreme Region 0' release.

Yeah there are some new bootlegs almost identical to the original, except Hard Boiled has some sort of a slip case, which I think looks rather nice, and the Killer has no chapter index.

Yeah original Killer Criterion version I have seen fetch up to 200 for on ebay, Hard Boiled seems to vary alot, I haven't seen that one, but I saw the Killer and it kicks ass, I was actually considering picking up the bootleg so I at least have a copy of the movie to watch

I seriously doubt that you used two DVDs that consistently fetch $200+ and $75+ on eBay as frisbees. Unless of course you had the bootleg copies that sell for about $30.

I have a sealed Criterion Killer DVD. Who wants to buy it?! BIG BUCKS. I've had it since it's original release. C'mon all you big tymers who spend hundreds of dollars on NEO games. No takers? Maybe I'll put them up on Ebay.
