Guilty Gear Online

- Sammy / Arc System Works announced that they are working on a new installment of Guilty Gear, called Guilty Gear Online, as the name suggests this game will have network support, for people to battle over the Internet.

Is this old news? Or did nobody catch it? I'm surprised it hasn't been posted on here. An online 2-D fighter always sounds like a good idea.

Yeah someone mentioned to me that Sammy was listed as one of the developers making an XBox Live game. I can only HOPE that this is one of em!

I totally agree with you. I will never buy a Xbox and never will, I just hate the console overall. The only game I like playing on it is Halo over internet, and besides all the good releases on Xbox, their PC GAMES so why would I bother playing PC games on a console system when their 10 times better on my PC? The only thing that would make me buy a Xbox would be a third party company developing a new controler in the style of a Saturn one or PS.

that magicbox thing lets you hook up saturn, dc and psx pads to the xbox though so there's no need.

agreed we're still waiting for a decent online fighter anyway - c'mon capcom, give us xblive 3rd strike or even zero 3 and I'll be there.

I don't like participating in these anti-Xbox threads, but I felt compelled to respond this time. I own all three major console systems (I love them equally), and none of them are perfect. The Xbox's joypad isn’t the best design available today, but to ridicule a system for something as simple as this is downright ridiculous. There are plenty of third-party joysticks available (I own a kick-ass arcade stick and it really has improved my game), so there is no reason to complain since other options exist. As for the PC debate: I haven't seen too many PC ports on Xbox as of late. Halo can't be considered a PC port because it hasn't appeared on the PC yet. I have heard rumors of it being released in European for PC, but I haven't read anything tangible to validate this rumor.

Software is slowly trickling in from third parties, but that is no reason to bash the Xbox system. If you all remember, it took forever for companies to release decent software on PS2.

Anyway.... even the PS2 and Gamecube have their shortcomings. The GC's controller is decent, but it needs a better design (the Xbox’s controller falls under the same scrutiny). The PS2's online service is extremely buggy (Socom anyone?), and it crashes frequently. Case in point: nothing is perfect no matter how you chalk it up. You people can exchange blows over this trivial debate for as long as like, because for people like myself who own all three, I have nothing to complain about.

Woah, there! If we're comparing 'stock' controllers, the PS2 ones have to be THE WORST for 2D fighting games (or driving games, for that matter). Those d-pads are not only extremely painful, but they make it difficult to execute even the most simple moves. The XBox controller isn't much better, mind you, but I'll take the Saturn controller over all of them.

Yeah, if you have girly hands. I have been using a PS pad for almost 6 years now and no problem. I am a huge fighter fan and played everything from Tekken (did losts and losts of juggles and 10 hitters) to Kof.

Its prolly difficult to execute moves for some cuz they don't practice enough or are simply used to playing on some other controller(s).


EDIT: I heard if you put the end of your T-shirt or whatever over the PS controller's D-pad, it makes it easier for some to pull-off moves etc.

I have to agree with you on this, the PSX Dualshock 1 and 2 are great for fighters AFTER a little practice. Alpha 3 broke me in on that controller, and since then its really easy.

the psx controller is shit. you'd think they would make atleast a cross dpad by now, but NOO its still the lame ass sectioned dpad. only 4 face buttons too.

gamecube controller. well the sticks are loose, i dont like the notches either. the triggers are lame with the whole click thing, and the z button is over all useless. the face buttons are alright but they shoulda just been regular. and the dpad is way too fucking small.

thats why they make CONTROLLER ADAPTORS. the magic box will let you use your satur, dreamcast, or even your fucking beloved psx pad.

xbox only has pc games? what the fuck are you smoking. you can count the pc ports on one hand.
i've never seen jet set radio on the pc. or panzer dragoon, or splinter cell, the list goes on. its just stupid to say only pc games are on xbox, since microsoft makes windows. there arent even any of MICROSOFT's pc games on xbox. never seen aoe or flight simulator on it.

If I am going to play a fighting game I either need 6 face buttons or an actual arcade stick. They can be built quite easily and decently cheap (buy cheap 3rd company controller - butcher - soder - screw - done). You can also buy arcade sticks in any quality from cheap (pelican or antoher crap 3rd party co.) to excelent (Arcade X, MASS).

I have to agree with sonic1687 on some things and just call this argument retarted on other parts. I put creamer no sugar in my coffee. If I dident like it I wouldent use creamer. Now STFU!

Both controllers are built sturdy.
Too bad they're not ergonomic at all unless you're Dr Claw.

If it wasn't for the size and placement of the black & white buttons I wouldn't have a problem with either of the designs, but they are just too far out of the way and hard to use when playing fighting games.

Honestly? Neither would I....for Halo.
Every other game I play with that controller just feels goofy. Its just my opinion though

GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY people are fuckin dicks.....

For NON fighters I love the XBox big pad. And as long as the fighter only uses 4 buttons (Neo style or GGXX) the S-Controller is, with out a doubt, the best stock controller out of the 3 consoles for fighters.

PSX controllers for 2D fighters SUCK. Period. They do. I have pretty big hands, and so when I use a D-Pad I don't use the tip of my thumb for control, I use the ball or joint of my thumb to "roll" the moves off on the pad. I love the Saturn pad, DC pad, and the ASCII PS2 fighter pad. The S-Controller pad works well for me, but its not as good.

But that's why I built THESE:

I have that going to a PSX converter which goes to an PS2 to XBox converter. I can also use my ASCII fighting pad if I want.

Its all about dedication, plain and simple. CvS2, MvC2, and now prolly GGXX on Live is a godsend if you want to play online and improve your game. Sorry, I don't know too many 2D fighting fans who can play all the time when I want to (around 2 AM or so). With Live I can play against thousands with no lag any time I want.

See it doesn't MATTER what system gives it to me, I'm happy just to get it. I'll adapt to make up whatever short comings there are. If it was only on PS2 or GC, I'd be there screaming about how happy I am. Honestly though, if you want to get picky, yes: PS2 and GC online plans SUCK. Nothing is as good as Live online for console gaming, period. I mean this is the entire reason that I like XBox the best now (even though I OWN ALL 3 SYSTEMS), simply because they're giving me ONLINE 2D FIGHTERS. Thats it, plain and simple.

Fuck you and your bitching "I don't want to buy an XBox". Its got online 2D fighters, if that doesn't make you happy then I don't know what will.

Also do you have a fast connection? If so then you might wanna DL direct connect and get some Vids from the people at the "Go For Broke" Hub. its predominantly a Street Fighter hub but they people have multitudes of movies from other games. I got like a whole crapload of GGXX match vids from there.
