This I’ll proclaim right now: it takes a lot to piss me off.

Take for instance this message board thread at the Neo-Geo.com boards. Because I fail to check a random price guide stating the supposed value of a Metal Slug AES Cart (that’s “Advanced Entertainment System,” for the non-elitists like you and me), I get flak from other members of the board as an exercise of their apparent know-it-all-ness. When I even try to rationalize it further down the thread, I still get mocked by someone whose “zenith of cool” includes playing off the name of an overly-hyped Kojima character, and quite possibly the highest degree on the poser-chain: the Nine Inch Nails fan. Fred wants to sell a CD-Burner, but no. Still, I have the satisfaction of knowing that my life won’t suffer the glaring deficiency that the first loser will in his search for the holy grail. And as for the other guy? Well, liking Nine Inch Nails heavily enough to have the handle “broken” is enough of a curse onto itself.

All I can say is... wow. Good way to make friends.

That was a pretty funny column. You have to admit, it was pretty lame to spam up someone's selling thread because he isn't aware of how much a game is worth. All of the other stuff he was looking to trade for was reasonable.

Hehe anyway Broken, nice job at gaining some exposure. :p

NGH is the acronym of choice among the "true" Neo elite. wink

I'm sorry, but any pussy that comes in here not knowing his shit and spamming up a sales post deserves a right ass kicking. Poor bastard...

Man... "rips"... that's just too harsh of a word. Too damned harsh.

Despite what most of you now think, I actually dig this forum.

Heck- I wouldn't have posted that ad if I thought otherwise. I just figured that if I was trying to raise some money for the purchase of a Neo Geo AES, this forum would be about as good a place to do it as any. So SPAM ain't the intention here.

And as for any implied angst in that post, it's not against the board itself, or of the posters as a whole. In the past week, I've already had some correspondence with other people off of this board who give it a good and solid rep.

My gripe- and perhaps a little jumpier than usual, lies in the fact that my first post of relative substance was attacked for some short-lived ignorance on my part- something that, at least in my head, came straight out of left field. We've all been newbies once. Come on- no one was born into this world knowing that a Metal Slug AES cart would go for 300+ dollars, or knowing that a shooter released only in Japan called Radiant Silvergun routinely goes for over 100 itself. I've seen newsgroups that were more forgiving.

So there you have it. To sum it up:
<ol type="A">[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Neo-Geo.com boards or site were never a target. Both serve as too important an asset for the Neo community.[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">The Burners are still for sale. 65 shipped. They'll go towards the purchase of a Neo Geo "NHG" (thanks for the correction, DolphinLord).[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">And despite what you may think, there's no ill-will. Not even towards broken or LS. Even though NIN may be mediocre in and of itself. J/k.[/list=a]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">
Thanks for reading.

Hey man its all in good fun.

Glad to you are interested in actual Neo goods and not just "Teh RoMZZz".

Although I think instead of going NGH, you should consider MVS. Hella cheaper.

Apparently it doesn't take a lot to piss you off.

Personally, when I accept trades, I do research on what I want in trades. A search, any search will tell you the given value of a MS NGH cart. I don't pop up and tell people I'm selling A NGPC and am accepting a NGH Pulstar for trade.

I have for sale:

a pair of boxed mint sega 32x units, looking for 30 each!

or I will accept trades of a BMW 540i.

seriously though, in an ideal world, slug 1 aes SHOULD only be worth a few hundred dollars. No Neo game is worth even double retail IMO. If certain money mongers were not in the scene, it might be that way, people USED to get games like kizuna jap for a few hundred off eBay, before this turned into the spoiled rich kid's stock market.

In reference to...

"This I’ll proclaim right now: it takes a lot to piss me off."

Actually, this first line was meant to be a precursor to the whole of the article- that is, the whole thing with Pelican/Electro-Source and their inability to make a mod-friendly cable.

That prayer will probably never be answered. Not by Pelican, at least.

But on the rest of the post, sound advice indeed. My reasoning for lumping Metal Slug in there in the first place was just as an aside thought. I figured since Samurai Shodown 2 is (and in my opinion has been to this day) an amazing game, I figured (incorrectly) that an equally amazing game would go for what I assumed SS2 would go for.

The trick there is that sometimes personal value doesn't equate with market value. Sometimes the gun is jumped- as in this case.

oh and the neo price guide is far from an official anything, stay far away from it. it's sad new neo fans are starting to think it's some sort of actual price guide to follow. it's the opinion of a few guys, who one of them happens to run a neo store, and doesn't even follow his own prices half the time (54 for a bare kof 94 mvs).

don't even get started on his buy prices for games. which are lower than the "low" price of the price guide.
