Bought the game... looks great!
Custom soundtrack.. Great!

Played a few rounds and now I can't seem to find a way to get into another volleyball game? And what's up with all the chicks being stuck up cunts never wanting to team up with you? This is soooo not like Beach Spikers it's annyoing the shit out of me to the point I want to shoot someone.

Anyone know what's up with dat?

Um, maybe because the game SUCKS?

I'm sorry man...I went to a friend's house and watched them play it for about two hours and wanted to scrape my eyes out with a rusty heroin spoon afterwards. This is pure shit, a fucking lonely 14-year old's wet dream with gorgeously rendered girls and NO gameplay. Play BeachSpikers and watch a porno flick afterwards...you get both experiences, only much better.

Anyone who owns DOAX and doesn't buy Panzer Dragoon Orta should be dragged out into the street and beaten with a hockey stick.

It is a friendship (or Lesbian dating) sim. The volleyball is a bonus game, you only play it after you spent hours gambling away to make $$ so you can buy some expensive accessories and win your friends over.

In another words, the girls in-game are shallow, just like the game itself.

Oh so they were going for a semi-relife bitch simulator. The sad thing is a guy I work with is talking about buying an XBox just for this game. I think I should shoot him and put him out of my misery.

Beach Spikers contains all the dubious lesbian-hugging action I need.

But seeings as I'm a sad lonely git I'll probably buy this as well. :D

Dude the game is hilarious. Of course I bought Panzer first, but my GF and other people in my close nit circle of friends wouldn't stop hounding me untill I got this game. Its actually pretty fun, definitely something that we play together.

I'll do the volleyball portions, my GF (or whoever else wants to take over at that point) will work the Casino, and buy all the Accessories/suits/etc.

I donno maybe its cause with 99% of the games/Anime we watch/play together a lot of the enjoyment comes from making fun of it. Needless to say, DOAX is just fun as hell to play.

Peace

You know, the only reason I read this thread was because the width was so fucked up I figured there had to a be a picture in there somewhere.

:eek2:Uh, hmmm, maybe I don't want this game afterall. If the graphics above are an indication of how "good" this game is maybe i'll leave it alone. I just don't find any of the DOA girls attractive...

Plus i've heard that the Casino mode is pretty dull, and the Volleyball isn't that great either.

How much do those swimsuits cost in the game? I can never find them drool_2 Ya anyway about the game, yes the casino mode is boring, the volleyball games themselves are too easy, but I think the whole point of the game is to collect items, there are some cool items in the game like DOA3 promo videos you can watch, DOA1 videos, DOA3 intro videos, and the commercials they aired for DOA3, you know the one where they are trying to say whats good about the game and he just ends up saying, "Um, she kicks high" heh

It's all about gifts, man - if you want to team up with a girl that has a partner or just plain doesn't like you, you need to give her gifts that are to her liking. Hints can be found in the instruction book.

If you've started with a bitchy character (christy or ayane, for example), expect to work a lot harder to get partners.

I'm pretty pleased with the game so far - it reminds me of Virtua Tennis quite a bit. The quality of your shots is based on timed button presses and where you are in relation to the ball, and the only way to score consistently is to set up shots (by making the opponents move) and then taking advantage.

I really do wish they would've put some "challenges" in the game like VT's world tour mode for additional variety.

I'm definately looking forward to playing against some decent human competition - that'll be the ultimate test for sure - but if you like timing based sports games like Virtua Tennis, give it a shot.

Hell, I like the game I think it is acutally fun. Just to damn easy. The only hard part on this game is getting a new partner. But if you play the volleyball game well enough you really dont need to worry about getting a new partner.

Now, I don't own the game (nor an XBox for that matter wink ), but I still just don't quite fathom the people who complain about the game's lack of depth in the volleyball department.

I mean, really, what did you expect?

From what I've seen, Techmo is making no effort to market this game as some deeply involved sports simulation, nor should they. Everything I've seen points to them being pretty up front with what the game is about.

And really, if someone gets enjoyment out of a little polygon T&A, more power to 'em. I guess I just don't see the harm in it as long as people are enjoying themselves (I'm tempted to say something about different strokes for different folks, but that would be crass now... :D )

The only thing I CAN see taking issue with is the fact that nowhere in their advertisements do they say that the volleyball portion is only one portion of the entire game. I can't recall seeing anything mentioned before about the casino, or "dating sim" aspects. So I could see where someone could be mad about being misled in that regard.

But I think what surprises me the most though, is how popular the game seems to be with women. From what I can tell, it seems to be a big hit with the female gender. I don't know whether to attribute this to the simulation aspect, but I find it kind of interesting none the less.

It's selling shitloads in Japan.

but then again, japan loves mediocrity. just look at their sales charts, 75% of it is dating sims, porno puzzle games and virtual pet type games.

As opposed to our Grand Theft Auto and Madden XX.
