I'd just like to hear everyone's opinion on which store they prefer and why. I prefer CC although I do go to both on a regular basis. I chose CC because of there no fuss return policy. For instance, a few years ago I returned a glitchy PSOne memory card to BB just to wait in their customer service line for almost 30 minutes and fill out a report form. Whereas at CC, I took my blown floor speaker straight up to a cashier and got my money back within 5 or so minutes. So which store do you guys prefer more?

I go to BB simply because it's closer. The lone CC in my town is pretty ghetto.

Generally speaking, BB seems to be a buck or 2 less on DVDs that are newly released. Game wise, I find some really good deals on CC.

I prefer Best Buy. I just like the way the stores are set up over Circuit City.

The Circuit City stores in my area are all staffed by clueless high school graduates who have could care less about the place. I suppose if I only earned $8/hour I would be the same way, but I don't so oh well! :D

BBs around here have more stuff than CC. What I like about CC though is that they have an anime section. Most workers know anime so it's not hard to get help. In BB they're like .. WHA?!

I favor BB over CC a bit more as the CCs I've been to have all been really bad with service. And the Best Buy near me had FF IX (PS greatest hits) for $20.

Wonder if there is a Circuit City near me...?

I think both are rather poor actually ,but then most chain stores of this nature are. They both want top dollar for most games and CC carries garbage as far as electronics go , not that BB is any better, and both are way overpriced on all their electronics.

With their prices I may as well go get raped at Fry's , but I suppose if you dont live somewhere like the bay area where electronics and game stores seem to grow on trees ? then they arent all that bad ?

I used to work for Best Buy. Worst job I ever had, so I try not to be too hard on the employees there. That "no-commission" stuff is a sack of shit as any chance for promotion is based on sales. However, they are a lot better than CC for certain items, such as car audio and computer stuff. CC has better customer service, though and usually better prices, although you have to look really hard to find the better prices.

Neither Worst Buy nor Circuit Shitty are perfect by a longshot, but every time I've been in a CC I've had a bad experience (about 10-15 times before I gave up on them). Their prices are generally higher than BB, have less stuff, and all the salespeople I've ever dealt with there are morons.

I've found Best Buy is fine as long as you know what you're looking for, i.e. if you have to ask a salesperson a question, you're basically screwed (of course that applies to quite a few retail stores ;) ).

I generally shop at Best Buy, but lately I've been doing all my shopping for DVDs at Circuit City... and they sold Transformers Season 2 part 1 at 10.00 less than B.B. did when it was first released.

I buy all of my "big electronics" from CC. I buy all the shit they put on sale from BB ('cause they lose money that way. I make sure to only buy shit that is dirt ass cheap and NEVER get service agreements or any of that shit on it). The BB employees are asswipes. I've NEVER had the security team follow me in to THE BATHROOM at CC, but they did at BB. I had long hair at the time and I guess I looked "suspicious". Too bad they didn't realize I made probably twice as much money as they were and anything they THOUGHT I would steal I would have BOUGHT instead. I've NEVER stolen from a store (or anywhere else for that matter), and I prefer to NOT be treated like a fucking criminal. THAT'S why I treat BB like a bitch.

I love Circuit City. The stores are clean and uncrowded. Not once have I run into a CC employee who had the same shitty retailer attitude that I see elswhere, and there are always plenty of them available to help.

My trips to Best Buy typically involve running into other people (since the stores are so crowded), not being able to find the DVD I'm looking for, and waiting half an hour to buy a part for my PC.

thats what i typically find.
i think they may have expanded the walking space.
but really i think that is a figment of my imagination.
its particularly annoying when people decide to go
down the dvd isles with shopping baskets.
i honestly havent been to circuit city for awhile though
simply because the closest one is about a 20-25 minute drive
as for the customer service at best buy. i noticed
its getting better at the places i go to.
before it was either impossible to get help.
or your met with a clueless schmuck.
i always thought it was understaffing because they
seemed to be busy all the time.
but now i seem to be asked if i need anything.
which i do appreciate.

What pisses me off the most about most Best Buy is that every time you buy any hardware they constantly ask you "Do you want to buy a warranty for that". But what pisses me off the most about this is my local Best Buy over hires alot of High School children to who stand around all day and don't do jack shit. It is impossible to get them to wait on you, they don't know shit about anything thing in the media section, and if it an't in that damn computer they an't going to get off of they lazy ass and help you look for it. And when managment comes around they start nagging the hell out of you to buy some 3rd party pice of crap PS2 memory card or some crapy controller that will brake after a week to make it look like they are working. And then after that they expect you to buy their worthless warranty plan so they can make it impossible to bring back something that is broke (like I am going to buy a $50.00 warranty plan for a $80.00 Game Boy). When you don't buy it they keep nagging you instead of counting your change and all get people change messed up and the line gets back up into the CD section. And as another guy said if you are in the media section when their is not that many people in their they will follow you around the damn store as if you robbed the place blind the week before. I was bent over one day looking at the Gamecube controllers and I stud up and knock the guy down on the floor behind me. To find out that guy had been standing over me for over a mintune watching every little thing I did. This pisses me off sense I always bought like $80.00 worth of DVD's month from that place.

For me, I generally perfer Circuit City.

The shop on 95th is catty-corner from Best Buy, but it is never as crowded. They have more of the higher-end audio stuff I'm looking for, and the people are a lot more helpful.

However, when it comes time for birthdays, and holidays, all I ever get is giftcards for Best Buy. So I have to trudge into that store where the employees follow me, try and sell me shitty merchandice that gets the the higher comission, and generally have no idea what they are doing.

They've also removed a whole asile of DVDs. And their audio section SuX0Rz.

I just tell them, "If the hardware you're selling me is that shitty then maybe I shouldn't be buying it in the first place."

That usually shuts them up.

No they don't get a % of money on the items they sell. But they do have monthly sells contests and ever wins gets a nice bonus at the end of the month and a gift certificate to go out to eat.

Plus it's a nice way to kiss management ass and move up the ladder. And they are told from day one to tell customers that they don't comission because they belive that people will be more willing to buy on the spot if they fill that they are just not trying to sell them something to make comission. </strong><hr></blockquote>

I prefer Best Buy. Better selection. I had no problem with returning my TV to BB.

I prefer Best Buy too. Much better selection, better prices, and they tend to mark games down much faster than CC, which leaves them at full price FOREVER (long after they are officially marked down). BB DVD selection is MUCH larger as is their game selection and their sales are (generally) better too.

Having said that, Circuit City DOES occasionally put up some great sales on videogames, having lower prices than BB.

I choose Fry's Electronics (Some of you might not have heard of it, but it's a warehouse two times the size of Best Buy or Circuit City) Their prices are insane, they take wholesale to a whole new level. I Found RE Zero for $30 there already. But sticking to the main topic, Best Buy usually has the good stuff, I rarely go to a circuit city, because it's always out of the way while driving on the highway for some reason. Because most of the best buys I have seen are built along the exits of most interstates

I use to shop exlusively for DVD's and Games at Best Buy, but in my area recently (meaning the past 2 years) its been much too busy a store. BB does seem to generally have cheaper items comparatively to CC, but I visit CC and Media Play regularly now so I don't have to put up with the huge crowds and packed parking lot of BB.

I've also noticed that CC will have the cheapest prices on DVD's frequently, if you get the title on Release Day. CC seems to give a special price on Release Day. Like someone mentioned above, their Transformers Season 2 set was a full 10 bucks cheaper than BB, but only on release day, after that they bumped the price back up.

I like Media Play because they seem to have the superior selection of DVD's, especially for anime fans(I'm not). I can always count on them having the item I'm looking for. The only thing is you can count on them having the highest prices(probably why they are always fully stocked?). It seems like they never have a deal, they just always seem to charge full retail price for everything.
