Deserving. Its one of the best stealth/action games on the psx.MGS2 is just as good except for the storyline.MGS2 does have some new features though which i like. The amount of detail in MGS2 is staggering. Those who bought the document of MGS2(comes along with the PS2 version of substance-import) will know what i am talking about.

DESERVING.

It's my #1 game on PSX. The story was/is amazing and has TONS of replayability value.

MGS2 is even better with a much deeper/more interesting story. And the fun factor is awesome.

MGS 1 is, even to this day, unbelievable. It tried (and succeeded) in doing something new, and given the PSX's hardware limit, it looks absolutely incredible. yah, it can be pixelated at times but I felt totally immersed in the Alaskan military base environment.

But MGS2 is just a total waste of time. The story is crap, the tanker was cool, but the oil rigs suck. I don't mind Raiden as much as most people, but he still blows compared to Solid Snake. Overall, a very very weak sequel and Splinter Cell has shown us what the evolution of Stealth based 3rd person game should be like.

Was a bit easy, i had it finnished before it was on the shop shelves, but it is just not my sort of game, but i admit it is deserving of good praise it gets as one of the better PSX games.

Overrated. Sorry to be the party crasher but it is overrated. It's not a crap game, because it is very well made. However, it is extremely easy, which made me glad I rented it first, because I beat this game the first nite of rental without any cheating, and without reading any strategy on it before hand. Also, I'm not the kind of gamer that likes to Watch the game, I'd rather be playing, and this game has way too much FMV sequences. I think there's more watching done in MGS than there is playing the damn game. I like movies but this is ridiculous.

MGS had the best story and most intriguing innovations of the 32-bit era. Even though I'm more of a Resident Evil fan, MGS was incomparable.

MGS2 had a lot to live up to but the story wasn't as interesting (and a little convoluted), there was no great Metal Gear battle, just a skirmish with weak Metal Gear Rays; and the game had no wonderful plot twists or innovations that made you gasp in awe.

Hell, I understand that it would have been tough to duplicate the same experience as the original, but the least they could have done was carry over the ideas from the original to the sequel.

MGS is a masterpiece and more deserving of a 128-bit makeover than Resident Evil ever was (although I loved it!).

Over-rated.

The game is riddled with camera problems and dumb enemies.

It does have it's standout moments, but is not as good as it is made out to be, IMO.

However i didet a bit more enjoyment playing it on Dreamcast through Bleem MGS, it makes the graphics hi-res and much ncie on the eyes.

Underrated, it has it's own flavor and was a masterpiece. So many scenes and so much impact. Never got the respect it deserved due to it being short, really though how long did you expect it to be? Also with the release of Zelda at almost the same time all mainstream gamers kinda looked over it. I remember asking my friend at the time, how do you own a PS and not own MGS but own Syphon Filter?

How can you say that? That G is so damn deep. Its actually "deep" whereas MGS1 was more of an awesome and gripping story.

IMHO this game has the best and deepest story ever.

Overated, I wanted more was of getting rid of the guards. The story was better than MGS2 by a lot, but there wasn't much in the way of what you could do.

Deserving. One of the best stealth games around, with the best damn English voice acting around.

I fucking LOVED the Psycho Mantis part (you like to play... Suikoden. So, you enjoy Role Playing games. That shit cracked me UP!). One of the most original ideas for a game I've seen to date. That scene ranks up there for uniqueness with the Final Fantasy 3 (US SNES, 6 on PSX) Opera scene.

I DID, however, find MGS had a LOT of dialog, and playing without watching it, the game was surprisingly short.

MGS 2 was shit, but only because of Raiden and that stupid ass vampire dude.

I find that vampire guy amusing.Raiden is Ok.When Raiden carries that sword, i kind of like his style more.
MGS2 is a quality game.It was very well executed. Its better than most of the mediocre sequels out there.
