OK, I've been playing this to death since I bought it on Saturday and have been unlocking some of the hidden fighters and the custom groove mode.

What troubles me is the severe lack of backgrounds...and the way they seem to repeat during the course of a game. At most, I've counted less than 10. Please tell me there are more...there's no excuse for such a shortage of original backgrounds to fight on. Even the SNES cart-based fighters had more!

But it's an X-Box game!

The X-Box can do no wrong!
Actually, no it isn't, moron.

It's an arcade game first and foremost which was first ported to the LameCube and then the Gaystation 2.

I speak of the lack of backgrounds in the game as a general fault. Are there any more you can unlock, or is this it?

Nope, both Capcom Vs SNK games have a small amount of backgrounds.

I haven't played it for about 6 months, but to the best of my knowledge their is:

Desert Stage (with buggies jumping)
English Stage (hotel and red buses)
Windmill Stage (boring)
Giant Hoahmaru vs Giant Honda stage
Rotating Ring stage (has li xiangfi in the BG)
New York Rooftop stage (guy drinkin' beer)
The Ring Stage (garcia concern)
The Japanese Rooftop (raining)
The Flaming Osaka Stage (rugal's)

a (poor) total of 9.

See if you can spot the mistakes in that statement.

And it isn't that I'm a moron, that part is true.

Thanks for your help as always, Plisken. Yep, those are basically the stages that I see, although the game seems to do a poor job of cycling through them during the course of a game session. For some ungodly reason, I seem to get that awful ice stage where the ship crashes through the ice and lets tourists out the most. I HATE that damn stage!

i agree; in fact i thought the whole presentation of the first game was leaps and bounds better than CVSNK2..pity the gameplay isn't as good though.

just look at the arcade stage, akuma's forest stage, the dojo and palace ground stages...hell, even fuckin' geese tower was in their.

I am fed up with your shit, idiot. Either stop the fanboyism or shut the hell up. Looks like your allmighty Xbox failed again.

I couldn't agree more. There are a few stages I like (windmill and desert), but that's IT. Oh, and the rainy roof stage is sweet, but beyond those, they really really suck. I mean, when I play online, even the people that pick stages usually pick the ones I spoke of, or the blue stage (to get the retro music... the only really good thing about the stages, IMHO).

The only stage I wasn't wild about in the first one was with the fire in the background, because it gave a stupid "lighting effect" on the chars that made them look more pixelated rather than lit. I love the overall look of the first one better, too, but the second with all the new chars IS the better of the two, IMHO.

the bgs in one were updated/reinterpreted versions of classic bgs from capcom and snk (and even unlockable classic bg music!)

How could the XBOX have failed? If anything, the game is BETTER on the XBOX due to the online play aspect, something which your beloved Gaycube and Gaystation2 never even bothered to implement.

I was merely stating my disappointment with the lack of backgrounds in the game, which is a direct fault of the arcade version. My original statement made no blatant attempt to convey any fanboy-ism, you fucking idiot. Read the thread carefully next time before you go about making stupid comments like you're known for.

My god how you ruin the image of X-Box fans. :(

And judging by all of your homophobic statements, I sense a closet case. wink

Oh settle the fuck down already, I only said it to make you mad, which worked better than I could have dreamed.

Why don't you just shut your fucking mouth and play me online. So I can talk shit to you about your Xbox while I beat your ass.

The Aomori Stage (Haomaru Vs. Honda) is taken from a real festival in Northern Japan called Nebuta. At night they parade these giant paper mache creations down the main street. Mostly famous samurai, dragons, demons, and tigers. The insides of these paper mache statues are filled with lanterns, so that they are all lit up on the inside...

Wow! Thanks for that info. I think I have seen a photo of a real one. I do agree though overall the backgrounds are pretty limp. I like the music and backgrounds of the first one better but the gameplay and charicters of the 2nd one. Plus on the XBOX I can play human opponents at almost all times of the day. That should be standard from now on. Now please Playmore port KOF 2k2 to XBOX with LIVE and I will never have to leave the house. buttrock

Who really cares!?

All the ports are virtually the same as the Naomi original, in terms of gameplay and visuals.
It really sucked that there are only 2 characters to unlock - the bosses.

I would have rather they slammed in some good hidden characters like Haggar, Gill, K', or Robert.

I haven't played Xbox live because it doesn't exist down here very_ang , but I'm sure it will get boring after a few weeks looking at the same characters and backgrounds...

Are you unable to read? My INITIAL post contained no statements that could be classified as fanboy-esque.

As for how this thread became yet another goddamn console flame-war, you can blame Average Joe and Spike Speigel for that.
