Ok, me and my family have narrowed my new car down to a few choices; Hyundai Accent, Toyota Celca or Echo, Izuzu Rodeo, Ford Focus, Hyundai Tiburon or Mitshubisi Eclispe, which one of those would be good? Keep in mind, these are 2001/2002 models. Please help me here, its a hard decision..

From my experience, do not get a Hyundai. They are great cars and good value to start with but soon turn to shit and have no resale value.
Instinctivly I reckon the Mitsu should be OK. Have you looked at any Subarus in that range.

Hrm, not really, can you give me a link to one of those cars in a 13k price range?

Take a look at the Subaru Legacy, I think its in that price range. Not being in the US dont know realistic prices. I believe its a good family car.

I had a Mitsubishi several years back. It was the smoothest running and most reliable car I've ever owned.

I would opt for the Celica. Nice looking car and very reliable.

Fuck the Accent, Tiburon, Rodeo, Focus, and Accent.

Celica or the Eclipse man, best bets.

Peace

My parents have a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo... it is always in the shop... It just had the brain die this weekend. They have rebuilt the tranny 4 times, it still shifts early... They've had engine problems, multiple issues with brakes. And, they know other isuzu owners that have similar problems... They have had thousands of dollars put into this car, and yes it is all covered by the warranty, but they are afraid to drive it anywhere cause they think they will get stranded! They are selling it this weekend, it is less than 2 years old (they bought it summer of 2001) and getting a Trail Blazer... JUST FYI DON'T EVEN CONSIDER THE ISUZU!

Ok, straight off, eliminate the Isuzu, the Accent and the Tiburon... wink
The Echo looks really goofy...
The Focus has really poor rear vision ( esp. the hatchback )

So it's either the Celica or the Eclipse...

I would go for the Celica ( The Eclipses got a bit too big for my taste :( , I really liked the earlier models )

celica is a chick car, and a piece of shit. Basically avoid Toyota. Honestly, Mitsubishi isn't much of a step up either.

Celica, definately.

Toyota makes the most reliable cars on the planet (statistaclly proven) with Honda a close second, and Nissan sightly behind both of them.

Avoid Hyundai.

Guys, I'll give ya the looks on the Eclipse, they look fucking badass (always have) but Mitsu's are shit under the hood. I'm not really a car enthusiast but any car buff will tell you to find better.

When it comes to quality and reliability Honda and Mazda basically own the import market.

EDIT: I own a Miata and I'm not really sure what you or your families stance on practicality is but do you know what you could do to a Miata with 13K? Holy shit dude, grab a clean '94 with about 60K on it and trick that thing out like a motherfucker. You could easily find one for under 6K so that leaves about 7K worth of mods. Dump about 5K into FI and you can have a 13 second car and 2K into cosmetics will leave you pimpin for years to come. The cars are very reliable and easy to work on and it's not uncommon to see one with over 300K. Taken care of, you should easily be able to get 200K on an FI Miata.
