OK everyone... What is your favorite Street Fighter Alpha/Zero and your favorite Vampire game?

For me, I love Alpha 2, but the presentation and additional characters in 3 make it the one for me. Plus, there are some really great backgrounds in Alpha 3... and Blanka!

My experience with the Vampire games is not that great. I played Darkstalkers on the PSone years ago, but now adays all I have is Vampire Saviour, which is simply amazing... Its pretty hard for me to make a fair call on this series though.

So, what do you guys like? If you could only have one CPS2 board of each... which would it be?

Alpha 2 fan here man..I love the duels with Sagat and Ryu, Ken and Ryu, and Akuma and Ryu. It just has a great storyline. Plus I enjoy the music that comes packed with it. buttrock

I guess I prefer the middle children of the series. Vampire Hunter by a head, and Alpha 2 by a country mile. A3's shitty new characters (Rainbow Mika? Jailhouse Cody?) and fucked up physics drop it completely out of contention for me. Ferris Bueller had it right- "IZM's in my opinion are not good." Vampire Saviour is still a really good fighting game, but I prefer the BG's, music, and traditional best of 3-round format of VH to the KI-life bars in VS.

It's hard for me to choose an Alpha game. I have so many good memories of the original Alpha, as I used to go play it for hours at the local Wal Mart super center. Being open 24/7, I could stay and play as long as I wanted.

I got Alpha 2 on the Saturn, and I still love playing it. It has the best feel to me of all the games.

Alpha 3 is probably my favorite though. There are just so many characters to choose from, and the extra modes on the DC/PSX version are hard to resist.

So Alpha 3 gets my vote.

I only have two of the Vampire games though, and Vampire Saviour is definitely my favorite of the two.

Zero 3 / Vampire Savior - barely on the last one, even though I said Hunter recently. Jedah and Lilith push the game over Hunter for me.

Alha 2 gold for me- it's really super tight and perfect. Alpha 3 is good and has alot of characters but it's a notch below 2 for me.

And Vampire Hunter is also perfection.

OK... for all of you in the know... What is the difference between Vampire Saviour and the Japanese Vampire Saviour 2. They both share the name "The Lord of the Vampire". They both were released in 1997. Do they have any differences, is one a remix of the other?

Hmmm, seems like one big difference is the inclusion of an Auto Mode... and also Saviour 2 loses Ksienko, Sasquatch, and J Talbain... Then includes Donovan, Pyron, and Phobos...

Most backgrounds look the same... Odd, must just be a remix with the inclusion of some new people. Wish they had kept the other three in though annoyed

Alpha 2 and Vampire Hunter. Both games are prime examples of Capcom at their best.

Alpha 3 for the Saturn is better than all the other ports. It's even better than the arcade IMO.

As of right now, I have to say Zero 3 and Vampire Hunter.

Alpha 2 really impressed me, but I was even more so taken away with Zero 3... to me you can't go much wrong with either. Alpha 2 has some sick backgrounds and music, but Zero 3 has Blanka, Guile, Fei Long, and all the others.
Sure R. Mika is lame, as are some of the others... but it's not enough to ruin or taint what is, IMO, a fantastic fighter.

Zero 2 had the most balanced, most non-"what the fuck" gameplay. Z3's V-ism sorta ruined things, the other two isms became useless after a while... Z2's music was much better than Z3's, though Z3's Ryu music was INCREDIBLE. Z2's Evil Ryu was a lot cooler (only in sat. version though) than Z3's, and the game had a much better feel overall.

I like Vampire Savior the best, mainly because of the cleaned up graphics and the roster. gameplay is solid, a really good title.

For competitive play : SFA2 ( but the custom comboes were a bit too powerful ).
For just messing around : SFA3 hands down... wink

I haven't played enough Vampire games ( I thought it was called the Darkstalker series ?! )

There is no question: Zero 3 and Vampire Savior. Both are the best and smoke the others by far.

It's called Darkstalkers in America, but in Japan where it is made and it counts, it's Vampire Savior. Japan's names count in my books because most of the time the U.S. craps them up or never ports them (as seen in most Sega Saturn games)

Just thought I'd let you know. :D

I knew all that... wink

The reason I asked is because the topic poster asked about Alpha and Vampire games...

Not Zero and Vampire games... wink

To make my point more clear, what is Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha?

The topic poster, meaning me... is not concerned that one game in the series was called Darkstalkers... where as all other US release titles were called something else. That series is confusing enough. Wow, I must be dumb to not call them all Darkstalkers when that is not their name :) ... Fuck me.

Hey, don't get me wrong...
I didn't know how most people called them. And read my second post, I do prefer the japanese names...
I just didn't get why you would call one with the jap name and the other with the US name... That's all...
No insult intended, seriously... :)

As far as your last remark goes, I would prefer not to... wink
