Excluding the obvious that innocent people will die ,that happens in any war(Hussein is currenty moving military stuctures into public places so there will be more civilian cassualties). What harm will getting rid of Hussein do? To me, it seems like it would do more good then bad. Even if there are no "Weapons of Mass Destruction", or no Terrorist ties. At the very least it would stil give the Iraqi people freedom.

Also excluding the fact that other countries don't want war.

Well, there are several factions within the country, and we'd have to keep a close eye on how the power struggle plays out; otherwise, we'll most likely just wind up back where we started (at best).

It would also be much harder to "rebuild" the nation ala the Marshall Plan, again due to the factions. It would require some serious politicking, making sure that our work with one faction doesn't isolate another, as creating new enemies when we still can't find the existing ones (bin Laden) would be disastrous in the long run.

I'll keep this brief.
Other negatives againt the possible war are:-

It will cost USA taxpayers billions.

It won't get rid of Terrorism.

It could destroy Americas relations with the rest of the world.

BINGO! If anything, this is the single most important factor that the US should consider if it hopes to rebuild its economy.

Well, I don't think the economy is so devastated that it needs to be rebuilt... Afterall: They want Britney. We have Britney. There's a 3rd world size economy right there.

I know it would hurt our relationships, but the question also applies to them. I dont quite get why other countries feel so strongly against a war with Iraq. Its definatly not because they're all of a sudden anit war and peacefull hippies(not ment to be insulting). The only reason I can think of is that some europeon countries would be afraid that they'd lose money when it comes to the oil they buy. But I dont think thats why everyone is protesting. If that is the reason, thats pretty shitty.

The US is just playing cowboy, and the EU is calling them on it. Keeping the weapons inspectors in Iraq will do good - they'll stay longer, Iraq will let them do their job for risk of actually incurring war on the UN terms, and eventually the country will be harmless on a military level.

Obviously people will die if there is fighting. Will fighting help the US find all the weapons it thinks it knows about? Will fighting Iraq, removing the current government, and angering the rest of the world be the better solution?

The biggest down of a war would be that it PROMOTES proliferation of WMD.

The US is a signitatory to the nonproliferation treaty. Part of this is that no nuclear power will use nukes against a non nuclear state. This is to make getting nukes unimportant - its pretty logical.

However, the US will not rule out using nukes in a war with Iraq and the US ambassador to the UK is on record saying that the reason Iraq is on the top of the list and N Korea is not is that N Korea already has WMD and a delivery system.

Essentially the moral of the war is 'if you are mad, bad and dangerous to know, get your WMDs in early'. The US's refusal to be upfront about its intention to honour the nonproliferation treaty is underming the very cause they say this war is in the interest of.

Not to mention the whole UN collapses, NATO collapses, Middle East turmoil question. This is a very big rock about to thrown into a very deep pond. Anyone that pretends they know what will happen is mad.
