how can anyone watch G4

this channel is fucking garbage there's almost no mention of an sort of classic gaming system, nothing from before 1999 and the shameless plugging of the military is reall annoying, the world was a better place without it. the losers they show on this thing are annoying too, twenty year old guys who sit in their little basement apartment, and play games all day. what the fuck is this garbage, and who's idea was it?

Good question man, this TV station pisses me off. Trying to review games are a joke for them, I wonder who owns them or sponsors them. I think it's really a sad time in the history of television to sink so low to make a "game channel", hell you want a game channel, make something like "Sega TV" again, now that was fuckin' entertainment! No nerdy lil bastards in the basement, just you enjoying some Mega Man in Wily Wars or playing against each other in Weapon Lord. Those were some fine moments in gaming history. This G4 is a good reason why I can switch to Tech TV for more crappy useless news over this garbage. Futhermore, I stand as one to say the market is totally flooded and the media is feeding off of us, the consumer, like vultures in the middle of an E3 show. Exploiting us like we're some damn freaks of nature or some shit. I tell them face off, "It's all about the damn games, its not a contest, we play, for we love it, the industry shifts like a snake so much, moving from company to company after 2001, but we know where to ride it, because we go to what we like, magazines or internet doesn't judge us, doesn't tell us what is good or bad, we are human beings who think and feel for ourselves, and we know what we like"

I'm seriously considering cutting off my cable because most of TV today is so terrible. I probably watch about 1 hour of TV a week. The only reason there are 3 TVs in my place are for games and pretty much nothing else. I don't even watch DVDs that often.

As far as G4, that has to be the single biggest disappointment in TV history for me. That channel is junk and it's degrading to gamers it's so bad because it continues to enforce the stereotype that videogames are for geeks only and not mainstream. The only somewhat decent programming on it is Cinematech and Judgement Day, and even Judgement day is ruined by the moronic banter between the 2 hosts.

TechTV is better, but not by much. That and the fact that my cable provider doesn't even get the channel, even though I have access to 200 POS channels like G4.

I barely have enough time to play any games these days, let alone watch TV, DVDs or read books so why waste my time on idiotic biased programming?

I knew the G4 channel was a bad idea when I first heard of it. Too current without a sense fo proper retrospect.

Besides, a real gamer would never have the time or money to devote to making a tv show. Only a venture capitalist group.

And I surely doubt that group in charge plays games at all...

G4 is bad but then i like it better then that pos channel called tech tv. Seeing as to how at my pad i don't have cable I'm getting off lucky

I only saw G4 once, at RevQuixo's house. It was good for a laugh, as all the shows are such crap. I saw one of the worst groups of counter strike players ever on it. Not that tech TV is any better mind you. oh_no

Here's a funny story about G4:

During last years E3, when the network was just starting about, they were doing an interview in a far off hidden-zone of the staples center; at the top of some stairs that went nowhere.

So, me being an idiot, I lead my friends and I up those stairs, assuming they must lead back inside. We walked right through the interview, to the top of the stairs looked around like complete assholes for a few minutes, and walked back down right through the interview [as it was taking up most of the stairs]. "what the fuck"s and "asshole"s could be heard on our way down...but not during the segment, which they actually aired; our interruption and all.

Actually I rather disagree. To a point. I love the channel as It allows me to see screen shots of some games without having to get robbed by blockbuster. However, I do hate the commentary and other mindless drivel(FIRE and KILL the makers of PORTAL). Plus some of the shows are actually kind of informative...at least to me. EX. Icons, Pulse. I remember seeing some new game they were previewing but I was too asleep to remember what the name of the game or show was.

Anyway, enjoy it for what it is, a big EB,Xbox,PS2,GCN commercial. smirk

Ditto, I watch it because of the info and screenshots it has. I sometimes get tried of looking at videos on a pc, the sometimes look like crap and when you see it on G4 it's a different story. Like Doom3, I remeber seeing it on the pc and it looked pretty cool and then I saw it on G4 and Daaamn. So yeah there shows are cheesy (Portal Big time) but there are some good shows like Pulse, G4tv.com, icons, and Judgement Day are pretty informantive. I even watch Players and Cinematech.

god they showed one game from before 1999 e.t. on the atari, yeah the game with the little brown space penis that falls into holes. how fucking stupid can they get the one glimpse at the kind of games i play is complete trash. fucking morons i tell ya.

Still you're upset because they only cover new stuff? Its about what 95% of the market is palying and/or cares about. What did you expect a Neo-Geo show?

i wasn't expecting a neo show, just more of the gameshows that used to come on. like the ones where kids would answer game trivia questions and get prizes. and then at the end they'd put on a velcro suit and run though a maze of games. there were videogames, and systems linig the walls, i always wanted to be on that show.

Does anybody remember Gamepro's show? They even had a show were they went to SNK and talked about Neo Geo though the whole show. And Castlevania 4 for the SNES won game of the year and some shit PC game that nobody will ever play like on today's shows.

G4 does suck, but i did see people playing neo-geo aes systems on the show... FOR A STUPID BRIEF SECOND! blow_top

G4 was supposed to come and interview us for some segments. Two hours before they arrived they cancelled and have not rescheduled. I like TechTV (got to go on Call for Help a few times) but I don't usually watch Extended Play.

One of the programming guys at G4 is Tom Russo, ex-NextGen Editor in Chief. Some folks do know what they're doing, but I wonder how much of the problem is making an interactive topic look interesting in a non-interactive setting.
