Help Me Find Movie: THE THING

I bought the game awhile back for my XBOX but want to see the film it's a sequel to. Everyone rags on me for this because I'm a John Carpenter fan with all his flicks... but this one somehow escaped me, I never saw it. Now I can't find this thing at old video stores or at flea markets on VHS, let alone DVD. Anyone know where I might find a copy of this on ANY format? Heck, does anyone know if a DVD of it is coming out?

The Thing is an EXCELLENT movie (the remake by John Carpenter I mean). Its available at several sites including Amazon:

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0783227507/qid=1041662377/sr=2-2/ref=sr_2_2/102-7187382-1616143" target="_blank">http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0783227507/qid=1041662377/sr=2-2/ref=sr_2_2/102-7187382-1616143</a>

<a href="http://www.dvd.com/product_movies.asp?type=Movie&productnumber=17528" target="_blank">http://www.dvd.com/product_movies.asp?type=Movie&productnumber=17528</a>

A bit pricey, you may find it cheaper elsewhere. :)

BTW I did read that the console version of this game is excellent, I'll pick it up for XBox sooner or later . . .

i saw a bunch of them at Best Buy.

it's not a sequel, but a remake (the original had plant monsters in the 50s-60's). it's one of the best gaddam sci-fi flicks of the 80's.

One of those great movies, with an ending that leaves you just as scared... the way it use to be, not some... oh the world is happy and safe... I mean... is it? After the Thing you just don't know. Great classic sci fi horror there!

One of the great cheesy Carpenter flicks !

But than thats what makes the majority of his movies great.
I love the Head that sprouts leggs and scurries away , They actually only had that one head and fixed it to a crappy $80.00 rc truck and then torched it , 1 shot only and it came out great !

You may try Sun Coast video , yes they are price jackers but If its out on dvd then they probably have it.

The Thing is an AWESOME movie. One of my favourites in the genre. I got mine (R2) for £6.49 shipped from <a href="http://www.play.com" target="_blank">www.play.com</a> . they sell region 1's but i'm not sure about their overseas shipping, check em out.

BtW, i also own the game, and i's a lot more enjoyable if you have seen the film. If i were you i would hault your progress until you watch the film. Best of luck :D !

Ooo, they made a game out of that movie? I want it! I remember seeing that movie(by John Carpenter) a while ago when it first came out and it scared the shit out of me! The reason movies like these are cool is because they stain your memory with their images! Speaking of which, does anyone know the name of that old Wes Craven flick with the guy and his robot? "Friend" maybe? I wanna buy it.
