This isn't really THAT new of an idea...
But apparently its finally executed well...

The story is about VEIL technology; and how its going to be incorporated into a new, or new peripheral for, the GBA. Basically, it allows information transfer via- data encoded video...with no link ups.

For instance, aim the gameboy at the TV while watching Pokemon as soon as you see the new Pikachu, and unlock him in the game.

This is obviously more geared towards kids...but this could open a lot of doors for more video-game based television, or commercials---

You know, looking at this objectively, if Microsoft tried a similar tactic, I'd probably be utterly pissed off. But for some reason, hearing that Nintendo has worked yet another finger around the minds of children and game-players alike, I don't really care.

In fact I'm downright happy. This is a pretty slick move on Nintendo's part. I especially like the name "VEIL". It just makes the entire operation even MORE shady.

My sig is preparing for the flame war that will inevitably start in this thread.

Everyone is always trying something new it seems.

Like the PS2 with Denki Talk. A police detective game where you can use a mic to talk to people in the game.

Interesting, but it's been done, right?

Well in the game you have a dog sidekick...and get this...the game and the PS2 will interact with a Sony Aibo, so your Aibo will respond to what is happening in the game.

Very cool. Although on a certain level I can't help but think of the NES and ROB the Robot.

thats good news.

If you see on Nintendo's site... they show an SD memory card sliding into a normal GCN memory card.

Maybe there will be this "SD gamecube card" that will be universal ... so Gameboy games can be thrown to the cube... and vice verca maybe.

That's awesome.
Who can afford an Aibo though? :)

Nice. I actually had the complete NES set: NES, Zapper (p'kang! p'kang!), ROB, Gyromite, and Duck Hunt.

I remember Gyromite had two modes: one where you had to control the professor and one where he was sleepwalking. In both, you could manipulate the pistons. It was sweet.

Sounds promising, I'd like to see it applied to other games outside kids games.

I'd like to see it applied towards coupons.
It's a way to check that their advertising dollars are getting to the public.
