What do you think of people who make a post about leaving the boards?

I have been a lurker guest for about a year or more. I have seen many people post that they were leaving and stuff. What do you think of these people? Should they make a big deal about it? Or do they usually come back anyway?

I remember some people that have left and came back or some that never came back(yet). Here are the ones I remember NeoDragon(he came back), BrymLoo(hes back), AztekNinja(hasn't return), Mr.Cool(I think he returned), GBitch(that jamaican guy his funny) Now these are the only people I have seen on my lurking year that I know left. Have some of these return? What other ones have left and came back? What other ones have left and havent come back?

Now Im not attacking any of these people I am just stating the members that I have seen leave thats all.

Nothing wrong with saying goodbye if you have been here for awhile and you are leaving for any length of time.

What I find fucking funny is when people like that one chick who came over from that anime BBS talking to people with her *huggles* and shit she was here for like 2 days then said she was leaving because she didn't fit in then after people were like NO STAY giving her attention and shit she was like OK the like 4 days later after like 60 posts about how she didn't know shit about the Neo and how she loved to chat and huggle people she posted this long goodbye speech about how she loved everyone here and stuff but she just didn't fit in then she left after trying to get more attention.

That was fucking funny.

Also how Atrophyte or whatever that guy's name is (Southern American guy or from Spain or something) started this huge as flame war saying NG.com was racist and shit because he and like 2 others that started this fucking huge ass spam thread didn't get their own board. He said he hated this shit and wanted his account banned. After like 2 weeks he begged for his account back.

That was fucking funny.

Or when people say this site has gone to shit and ask for their user name to be deleted. That's pretty funny too.

There's a lot of funny things like monkies with small penises. They don't where clothes and they don't know why the girl monkies won't come near them because they aren't smart enough to know.

Generally, I've found that the people who make the biggest deal over leaving, are the most likely to come back.

You can also add Plisken to your list, he used to be 10in2010, but at least he had the decency to leave and return without any major fanfare.
One day this new user turns up with a Kurt Russell avatar and a Bad Religion quote in his sig and everyone thinks "Hmmmmmmm.. is it him???"

It seems like a lot of people just need a month or so away from the boards if they start getting pissed off with certain members. Also, most members find that no other forum is quite as much fun as the drama-filled world of Neo-Geo.com.

Why they need to make a huge fanfare over it is another issue entirely. Personally I see little wrong with a single post/thread in 'Suggestions' so the mods can delete an account if they want, but a new thread in 'General discussion' seems like attention grabbing overkill.
Personally I think BryLmoo (and al other 'dramatic' ex-leavers) should have some sort of custom rank, nothing major, just something to let everyone know they made a fuss over quitting.

Well there are several kinds of goodbye posts. In most cases I think if you want to leave, just leave.

However, there is one type of goodbye post that is legitimate. If a person is leaving because of work, life and just want to inform others, then it's fine. I have no problem with someone going: "Hey guys, I'm going to be leaving for the next few months since I'm going on a trip... or work has picked up and I don't have enough free time to post here as much... or I'm selling all of my wordly posessions and joining a monestary". Generally these people don't make a big fuss about leaving. They might post this ahead of time to let one final discussion go.

Then there are the ones that posts for other reasons:

a) Feel that they want to force a "change" in the attitudes of the board members. It's kind of like saying: "Look at me, I'm an upstanding member of the board, and you are forcing me all to leave because of your childish behaviour. Now people will rally to my aid because they want me to stay and you jerks will really feel bad!". Generally these are people that make a huge fuss and these "goodbye" posts are bluffs. I find these posts annoying and immature to say the least. It's like a child deciding to end an argument by not listening.

b) Well, then there are the other "bluffs" for people who just want attention... Even worse then "a".

Of course I do agree that you might get so annoyed/pissed off at someone or a group... Then pm those you want to say goodbye too and just disappear. It will seem less like "a".

I knew I was right. And those flammers/mods ass-lickers at that time are still dumb and racists.

Guys that tried to be total asses with me and with some of my friends in the past like Chimpmeister and BMU are now cool and they both have agreed with my emails/PM's comments.

There are tons of spam on our threads like on the French, german and italian threads. Our thread was the only one deleted.

And it was not only me complaining. and if you remember, after my ban I NEVER BEGGED FOR COMING BACK. a lot of friends over these boards did that for me and I appreciate their move. All I did was a selling thread of my stuff posted by Cleber.

After all of this, we even have our flag language to display! Everybody who was against us, now have their mouth well shut.

I know I was acting quite stupidly because in was "on high".

And as a matter of fact, I intended myself to have the account reactivated because I when I was lurking around I saw tons of stupid post attacking my person ( not my account ) and I had to reply them back.

For me, the the racist morons of these are kept in secret. I know who they are.

When I had to take my much needed break from this place, I posted about it. I said I'd be back, and I was. I can't stay away too long. I was getting burnt out with the scene, plus I had a string of SHITTY luck in real life that forced me to liquidate most of my collection. I hate looking back at those times.

For someone I really really enjoy on here, you're damn right I want them to post a "goodbye", or a "leaving for a bit" post. Not sure why. Some people on here are mega cocks, but many on here are super cool, too.

If a person is going on Holiday and he/she has blokes in here that chat on a regular basis but they don't actually know them in the real world, have no tele to reach them at... then I believe this is justified... anything other than that is just showboating. Though I did something a bit different after abandoning my old call sign and telling everyone that I had killed my former self. And you're SO right Toy Brain... about this being the best BBS Forum. I think it shows what a drama queen that person really is. I can see telling your friends here you will be away for some reason or other and when you plan to return , so those who may miss you know you arent dead on the side of the road somewhere.

Hmm Tom_Wopat comes to mind , not that I care , just been sort of curious as to his where abouts ? But he dissapears for a year at a time , or so Im told anyway.

But I think all these "Im leaving this site forever" posts are just pure drama queen crap !

Please spare us , if you want to leave then do so , and if you decide you may want to return then you wont look like some major ass when you do so.

I think it really depends on why they are leaving.

If they are leaving because they are dying, then that's cool. If they are leaving because they are moving somewhere that has no internet, or they can't afford the internet any more, then that's cool too.

When ISN'T it cool to post a good bye? When you are a whiny BITCH who says "I'm leaving 'cause of the drama" or some other bullshit excuse. I can't remember the guys name, but there was a dude that was like FUCK YOU DELETE MY ACCOUNT. This was his 3rd or 4th time "leaving" the boards. I'm not sure but I think he just came back...
