Game with the most glitches?

I think Grand Theft Auto 3/vice city would win this award. I mean they're not even little glitches that you would only notice if you paid really close attention. These glitches are huge, like disappearing environments. Rockstar didn't even learn from their mistakes after releasing GTA3. They did the same with vice city and didn't even try to fix the glitches.

What do you guys think is the game with the most glitches. Please try to keep it with next-gen systems only please. Thanks.

next-gen systems only? man fuck that

I don't know about the most glitches, but the funniest glitches ever in my opinion has to be the Mortal Kombat II Babality glitches that could only be done on the arcade 2.1 version. 3.1 fixed this and the game was never as much fun for me. Thank god MAME has let me mess around with this stuff again :D

now that I think about it, that second pic is kinda lame. I'll have to upload some other stuff I captured later.

Oh yeah, the original arcade Mortal Kombat 1 had some fucking awesome glitches too.

Johnny Cage could uppercut two heads (the "triple head" fatality in MK2 is an homage to that glitch), or you could uppercut one head, do the split punch, and they magically grow their head back for the hit animation. (didn't work on Cage and Sonya, obviously)

With Kano, if you cornered yourself before the last hit, you could make the opponent's heart float in midair. Just throw them when it says Finish Him, and then do the Fatality when they're on the ground. Because he's so close Kano ends up reaching past the body and the heart is floating in mid-air out of his hand.

with Sub-Zero if you sweeped them as the last hit before Finish Him, you could actually freeze them while they were getting up and it wouldn't count as the finishing move sometimes. Then do the Fatality and the body remains frozen.

Doing Liu Kang's Fatality from full-screen, then getting some cheap hits in before doing the Fatality again was always fun :)

practically everyone could throw the enemy on Finish Him and then do their Fatality. Raiden and Sub-Zero would magically lift the body up off the ground to do the Fatality, Scorpion and Sonya would burn them on the ground... the only one that would miss completely was Johnny Cage, he'd just whiff the uppercut. oh, and Liu Kang, of course.

damn, why am I on such a Mortal Kombat kick right now?

1.> In the Famicom/NES version of CONTRA on the Snow Stage there is a glitch, when lying on the tundra shooting at the Cyborg with a mouted gun, you press to to jump down to a level below you that is not there, and you are literally standing inside the entire moutain of ice... you can jump out though. It's the part a little bit before you get the spread gun, and the red falcon killer that decimates everything on screen, and just after avoiding some potato masher grendades being flug from the background. Those who know about this know what I'm talking about.

2.> In Super Mario Bros. for Famicom/NES there is a glitch in World 1-2 Underground where if you allow the screen to advance a bit, you can get up high and break part of the brick ceiling, then jump again get stuck in it, then jump again and then continue running along the top, jumping past the lifts and onto the Warp Zones for worlds 2,3,4

3.> In Revenge of Shinobi (original release w. Godzilla and Spiderman) there is a glitch if you use a Mega Key Converter in an American system and set the toggle dip switches for Japan, it will access it's original title screen for *The Super Shinobi*

4.> In Mystic Defender for Genesis there is a glitch that like the Shinobi game above, when using a Mega Key Converter switched to JPN settings it acutally converts the game back to Mujaki where the guy is wearing a Shinto Mage outfit that looks like a dress... the opening is in Japanese but scenes are now available that were taken out of the American version.

Those are the ones that come to mind the most.

NHL 93 for the SNES was plagued with bugs... EA Sports thought it would be an easy cash-in for people who didn't own a Genesis and boy they were right... GTA: VC doesn't even compare to the glitches in NHL 93 (ie puck flying through the net, goalie getting stuck behind the goal, etc.)

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring for GBA:

First time you turn it on, it doesn't boot up properly the first time right away.

The Mines of Moria glitch: Upon going through one of the doors in the Mines of Moria, it freezes the game all too often.

FFVII for PC:

With certain video cards, the cutscenes play upside down and zoomed full-screen.

Sometimes, the system hard-freezes between areas.

How hard would it be to find a version 2.1 pcb?

Also do you know of a FAQ somewhere that tells you how to pull these crazy glitches off? That looks funny as hell.

This works with Streets of Rage 2 as well. Plug the cart into a converter and the title screen changes to 'Bare Knuckle 2' and skate's name is changed to sammy.

Other notable glitches:

Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (all formats)

Sometimes, doing Frost's Ground Freeze move will cause the game to totally lock up.

Shenmue II (Dreamcast)

Renowned for it's disk read-errors, causing you to have to restart the game. I had to backtrack 2 hours once.

Dead To Rights (xbox)

When you defeat the boss longshoreman-X, the game will sometime snot load the next cutscene and you will be stuck in a freezer.

LOL!
You beat me too it John!
That game has so many glitches its not true!
Invisible enemies, reappearing gold coins, The Moria Glitch (The daddy of all glitches), disspearing items and on and on.

Of course Splinter Cell isnt without its share of glitches!
My first copy would ramdomly freeze on a certain doorway on the Police Station level.I took it back and swapped it.
Next copy was fine until the CIA level, which had no sound!!!!!! (Weird or what?)
Next copy has a habit of freezing where ever it wants! Leaving a hung screen and loud buzzing noise.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this one yet....SONIC ADVENTURE 1 for the Sega Dreamcast.

I understand the Jpn version was even buggier than the one that we US gamers got. Tons of polygon glitching, bad camera angles, even the occassional system freeze!

Second would have to be Star Wars Rogue Leader for the Gamecube. My brother has this game and it is prone to locking up.

Try running Hydro Thunder on anything but a first run DreamCast and let me know if you actually get anywhere on the game?

I've had no loading, no sound, freezes, resets. Ready 2 Rumble does this too. I've tried these games on 4 seperate Dreamcasts. :p

Vampire the Masqurade, you need some serious skills even to install it, let alone make it playable. The installer doesnt even work!

my cousin found one when we were playing THPS2X. i think it was the SF stage, he went up on one of the roofs, got stuck spinning and the game just kept piling on points. when he got down, he got 1million 800,000 plus points.

The game EXTERMINATION for the PS2; they removed a cinema, and didn't correct the code, so that the game won't continue until the cinema plays.

Again, the cinema is not there.

So, the game can't be beaten [first run copies]

Although I've never looked around eBay or anything, it's been my experience that Version 2.1 (or any of the previous versions) are a bitch to actually find. This is because most arcades upgraded to 3.1. What happens to the old roms? I don't know, maybe they get sent back to Midway or they get trashed. But any time I came across a Mortal Kombat II machine in the arcades I always tried to find out if it was a Version 2.1, but pretty much every machine out there is a 3.1. (this can easily be verified by pushing Down on one of the joysticks during attract mode, it will instantly bring up the Longest Winning Streaks high scores. this is the only version that does that)

I don't know of a FAQ that specifically details the "Abortionality" glitch, but it's not that hard to perform. You just have to be playing on a Version 2.1 machine (like I said, MAME comes in handy for this, since it supports this romset). It was the first version to have the Babalities and Friendships put into the game, and they didn't bug test it enough before shipping it out to arcades. When you perform a Babality, your character goes into his/her win pose... but you can interrupt this with a special move and you'll be able to move around again. Alternately, you can also do the Babality motion again (which is how we originally found the glitch in the arcade with Baraka, someone was mashing F + HK over and over, since the motion is F, F, F + HK). When the Babality is performed again, the normal character's body is usually brought back again, and a Kung Lao baby will be sitting next to the regular baby (why a Kung Lao baby every time? I really have no fucking clue). You can also do a Babality - Friendship "kombo" to show just how much you care for that baby!

Anyways, here are some other pics I took of funny-ass shit that can be done with one of the best glitches in the history of video games.

mk2glitch05.png

Babality - Friendship kombo. With an extra Kung Lao baby for no reason.

mk2glitch06.png

Frozen baby! The hilarious thing is that after the freeze wears off, you hear the sound effect of someone falling to the ground and the baby completely disappears :D

mk2glitch07.png

Do the Babality too much and sometimes the "explosion" gets stuck on the character...

mk2glitch08.png

Man, I don't even remember what I did to make that garbage appear on the left side of the screen. I think it involved Reptile's Force Ball.

mk2glitch09.png

Awesome color glitch that happens if you bring back the grown-up body, and then hit it with Reptile's Acid Spit...

mk2glitch10.png

Doing Raiden's torpedo push caused the grown-up body to get stuck in that pose, and for some reason or another made the Kung Lao baby float in the air, while the Raiden baby is on the ground...

Does anyone want to see any more of these or have I posted enough already? There are some real gems I forgot to get pictures of, like Kitana fan-lifting the baby into the air, or Johnny Cage split-punching the baby, which causes it to rise up into the air and wiggle for no reason.

I swear, I had more fun doing all this shit than I ever did playing the game against people in the arcade. :D (stupid Jax turtles...)

Very Cool BBH. That takes me back.

Glitchiest game I've played recently. No doubt.

Super Street Fighter II X Revival for the GBA. The US version.

For those who don't know it's INSANE. First and fore most it is IMPOSSIBLE to fight Shin Akuma.

If you meet the requirements to fight him, the screen freezes with Akuma's victory pose. You have to reset. So you can never fight the secret boss, which is highly lame.

But wait there's more!! After reaching 9999 VS points (getting a few points a match) you unlock Shin Akuma as a playable character (since you can't fight him, you can't beat him, so this is the only way). And he's a massive glitch too...but a very cool glitch.

The second you move the game falls into a debug type mode where small sprites appear on the character's hit areas (head, torso, legs) as well as small sprites when they attack that show where the game looks for contact with another character. The sprite also has a little letter combination for the type of attack it is. Throw a fireball and it'll fly across the screen with a HP on it's contact points.

So with that you could totally analyze the fuck out of moves. Exactly what hits characters where.

Only problem with that is that game has been analyzed to death over the years and you're really not gonna find anything ground breaking that isn't in any FAQ's.

But the fact you can't fight Shin Akuma, the biggest reason I got that game, pisses me off.

The Japanese version is fine, though.

Honerable mention to Daikatana. A game that's impossible to beat without cheating (your Sidekick Superfly gets lost and you can't finish the game without him.).

Yea, all those weird glitches you did with the babalities BBH sounds like a shit load of fun. I need to try some of that shit you did sometime, haha.

I'd also like to add some glitches from Phantsay Star Online DC version, mainly version 2. In battle mode if you casted grants on someone and they went though a pipe when they arrived in Pioneer 2 they would die from the grants, and lay dead there. Also, you could restore someone elses TP if you used the Start menu and did up and A at the same time while highlighting Resta on the Technique menu. IF you had Grants or zonde above Resta in the quick technique menu and pressed up and A while highlighting Resta you would be able to attack other players, and tho it didnt damage them, their PB meter would go up by a lot. You were also able to go thorugh locked doors and other tight places if you stood near one end of the locked passage, unequipped your weapon and started "kicking". After a while you would magically go past the door or the object. And probably the gayest glitch was in version 1, where if you typed all "l"s your game would freeze up. LoL.
