Its their way of trying to ensure that the 'genuine' customers will get the bonus disk, and not have to buy it off of the speculators on Ebay.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Gamestop has it set up where people can't abuse the system like that. AFAIK you won't get the bonus discs unless you buy the GC Zelda.
We had this issue come up the other day actually. A co-worker sold a lady on reserving the game and told her (paraphrasing here) "Just put $5 down and you'll get the free games when they come in, you won't even have to buy the GC version if you don't want". My manager heard this and corrected the employee saying this was not the case. The lady still reserved it 'cuz she wanted the GC Zelda anyway but my manager explained to her that she's only guaranteed the bonus games upon buying the GC Zelda.
The easiest way to handle this bonus game situation IMO was to release two versions, a standard and a deluxe edition. The PC gaming and DVD companies do this ALL the time. That would have made it easier on places that do reservations for releases like us, EB, and Toys R Us. Give the places like Wal-Mart, Target, and the like who don't do reservations the standard editions for all the Tom, Dick, and Harrys that walk into their store.
