A few weeks ago I got my first import SS from Carlson to go along with my complete copy of X-Men vs Street Fighter I had won off eBay. Anyway, I've beaten the game around 15 or so times, but for the life of me I can't get use to the combo system. I've tried the faqs over at gamefaqs, but they don't seem to help. So can any expert XvsSF players take me through the steps of the combo system? I'd really like to begin with Sabretooth and Zangief if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm no expert, but certain characters can pull off longer combos than others. Zangief isn't too big in the combo department. Characters like Akuma or Wolverine have bigger combo ability. The key is to start with the lighter attack and move up to the strongest. Try to make the last attack on the ground a launcher. As soon as you hit them up in the air, press up and again start from weak to strong, to do an air combo. Then you can end it in the air with a special or sometimes a super.

Like I said, I'm not an expert, but I hope this helps.

Don't feel bad, Quake. I just got the game in the mail recently, and am having a bit of a struggle working its crazier combos. Every time I play I seem to end up playing it "regular SF II style," which of course, it is not intended.

The combos are all chain combos(Weakest to strongest attack buttons). The longest combos have to be air combos. For example..use Ken or Ryu and dash Forward,Crouching Short,Crouching Fierce(causes opponent to fly up in air) hit Up on Joystick to pursue and begin air combo. Jab,Short,Strong,Forward,Fierce,RoundHouse and you can usually throw a Fireball at the end of that. They are a bitch to do but once you do its alot of fun.

Learn the "magic series" of moves.. light-med-hard(switch to opposite hard)Hard.

It's a weird system to say the least.

Congrats on your fine, fine purchase. Sorry I can't offer you any help w/combos. I just play to win & for the joy of such an awesome game. Pretty much goes for all fighters w/me. I don't think I actually suck, just can't get into all the technical shit some of the other guys are into. (main reason why I left SRK)

Anyway, I play to win. So, I say screw the combos & just kick ass!!!

My XvSF recently got all scratched up now <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[Crying]" />

But um. I got a XvSF combo video dedicated to Marvel's badass, Magneto.
