Magic Box X-Box Adapter report---->A-

To get to the point quick, THIS THING ROCKS!! EXCEPT for a Dreamcast fight pad or joystick.

This little baby allows the use of PS1/PS2, Sega Saturn or Sega Dreamcast controllers on your X-Box.

It maps out the buttons PERFECTLY for the PS1/PS2 or Sega Ssturn controllers. I'm currently using a Hori joystick for my Saturn for CVS2 online. It works sweeet as well as the Saturn 6 button fight pads!!!

It works great w/Playstaion controllers as well, I just don't have a PS joystick to use it with.

Now for the down side: This adapter DOES NOT map out the C & Z buttons for ANY Dreamcast fight pad or joystick. So, basically, if you don't mind using 4 buttons, then it works just fine.

Also, the headset comm. is out of commision w/this adapter aswell.


So, in the end I give it an A- because it does get the job done well. Just not 100% for the DC.

Thanks for that review SG!! I'm looking forward to trying one of these out with some of my older Saturn/PS2 arcade sticks, since the XBox doesn't appear to have ANY good arcade sticks right now.

Will work just fine. Magic Box has the buttons mapped out perfectly for the PS & SS!!

This is a great way to get a stick for Cap SNK 2 Xbox. I just got a X-Arcade solo stick and I am soon getting a X-box adapter. Just wanna let you know that it rocks hard, highly reccomended. Any way you want to get a stick for Xbox is great though.

its because a game had to be programed to recognize the C and Z buttons, because they werent just L&R they were their own C&Z buttons. one game that doesnt support it that pisses me off is Last Blade 2. i cant understand why though, every other snk release supports the stick...oh well

im sure shitty stick like the topmax will work, but why would you want to?

It's funny, I just got the Magic Box today. Yes, I agree it rocks. It's a pity the C&Z buttons don't work using my Agetec sticks (notice you are missing 5 buttons using it). It also sucks that when using a Saturn controller L and R don't work (so you are missing 3 buttons here, Back, L and R).

Finally, I would like to mention that it looks like that older, digital-only PS1 controllers won't work at all. I have a digital stick compatible with PS1, Saturn and Supernes, and it doesn't work as PS1, but it does as Saturn (missing that 3 buttons of course).

Yep, I think I regret not having ordered 2 instead of one, but well, if somebody comes home I'll let him use the original Xbox controller...

Why cant one of these things support the friggan headset???

I'm getting one as well.hopefully tuesday but knowing fedex...wednesday. It's cool that it could be used for GC, Ps2 and Pc.
