I was at the local Thrift store today and I came across this little jem in the display case !

It looks like the average original model Game Boy but look at the extra logo under the original Nintendo Game Boy logo .

Is this some rare GB used to promote some event in Stockholm Sweden ?

If anyone knows the story behind this unit I would be very happy to hear its history , I know it looks dirty but I am going to fully restore it new screen cover ...new buttons etc.

If anyone has a old unworking Gameboy with minty unscratched buttons that they would like to donate please PM me .

I am going to check the web for info on Stockholm Open .

That is a rare Jem.
I have never seen this one before.
I collect handhelds.

That extra logo makes it all so rare.
I "think" these were given to the Winners only of the tournament.(Tennis Open)
"Nintendo" Game Boy was a sponsor.
Not many of these were produced so it's rare.
I wonder what winner it belonged to.

I gotta do some checking on this to be sure but this would be
I can't seem to get in touch with this handheld collector who knows everything.
I think he's on vacation.

I know this is a rare Gameboy because I look for this stuff.
And I've never seen this one.
But I'm not always right.
For me and a few other collectors I know this would be a rare item.

Rare and Gameboy should never be uttered together :) Nintendo whored off so many things for branding... it is almost a joke. I am going to go eat my rare Mario cereal now, and drink some Metroid Pepsi... WTF!

Hehe, but I guess if you are into collecting, it is a strange gameboy to run into. Especially if it had a history (Tennis Pro owner maybe?)

Another interesting find you have there. I got an oddball GB that some of you may have interest in if you collect handhelds. It is a game boy pocket that is half yellow and half blue. It is a special Swedish edition limited to (if my memory is correct) 1,000 (maybe 500). Been a while since I have dug it out. Kind of a neat little unit. I could take a pic if anyone is interested.

Kinda, except it is a GB pocket not a color and I got it pre-pokemon craze. Kinda interesting if nothing else. I am sure it has virtually no resale value.

Very interesting, but i agree, many GameBoys were spawned off. I still remember the Tommy Hilfinger GBC unit from that Sears or JCPenny sale..*shiver* poor little guy..No GBC deserved that. My all time favorite were the classic "Play it Loud" colors. Just basic colors, not anything fancy like "Cobalt". How long did it take someone to figure out what Cobalt was when GBA SP was announced? Nintendo and their silly uniqueness. Yet this rare GameBoy you have, usually from a contest is worth more. It's a keeper for sure

Interesting find. Good detective work by the members to establish at least some authenticity

Who would want to put that logo on it unless it had a connection to an event?
