Japan threatens force against N Korea!

I couldn't not imagine the US teaming with Japan... I just cannot imagine, but you know the US would be with Japan if they did this.
maybe its a trap. They get the US to help with an attack.. and then everyone attacks the us...

Well, considering the violent history that Japan and Korea have had, I'd say Japan has every right to exercise it's concerns and warnings to Korea.

I don't really know official figures, but I know N Korea has quite and army among other things, and Japan by itself would still have trouble. Of course, if N Korea ever launched a nuke, it turns out that World vs. N Korea would crush them in a 10 hour war that would end up having N Korea obliterated

I don't think they are teaming up or siding with the US... they are simply siding against North Korea, which is starting to blip on the threat radar... And being as close as they are, they have reason to worry,

Building off of this:
First off, NK is still way off from actually manufacturing a nuke.
Japan is finally starting to get unsettled by NK's recent craziness (unlike the US, which is trying to focus attention on Iraq).
- Japan has a lot of US military personel which would make it a clear target of NK aggression
- As was mentioned, there is animosity between Japan and the Koreas. While the World Cup did help a lot with S. Korea. NK doesn't watch a lot of TV
- Japan has a very good defensive, not offensive army. They can repel an invasion, but missle attacks will still do substantial damage.
- NK has done some pretty messed up things to Japan before (like kidnapping Japanese citizens off of their own beaches -seriously!)
- If Japan is ever attacked, you can damn well be sure the US will help crush the offender.
Oh, and side note:
Remember: Patriot missles (and the like) do not work that great. Remember all the missles hitting Tel Aviv during the Gulf War? They did try shooting them down. It's really hard to do.

Japan has a defense force - i'm not 100% sure of the WW2 surrender agreement but i believe there army can only be used for home defense.
I'm just glad Japan issued an official statement to say "Hey NK were not gonna take your crap anymore."

I'd also like to add that North Korea pretty much mastered everything they learned from CIA intelligence in the early to mid 20th century on mind control.
No joke. No conspiracy. Do research on the Korean War, and the effects it had on US POWs that managed to survive the korean camps. They were pretty much fucked over after that. I wrote a psychology paper on this a while back. I wish I still had it.

The idea of Japan 'threatening' anyone is laughable!
They can barely protect their Whaleing Fleet from Greenpeace.
Besides, Japan is just a big US base anyway.
NK wouldn't need nuclear weapons to crush Japan's 'army'.
The N.Koreans have a well trained and efficient military, who I'm sure would be highly motivated in ANY armed conflict with Japan.
Korea is not exactly on 'good terms' with the Japanese.
Japanese military might is about as scary as the Power Rangers.
But I still think its just sabre rattling from NK.
Perhaps Japan just wants the US to buy it an army?

Japan has what might be the best equipped and trained defense force in the world. They aren't capable of entering other countries and fucking shit up like the US, but they can fend off most any trash that comes their way. And remember that many third world countries decided to go with the Japanese missile defense systems instead of the US offered ones. Hmmn...

Japan should indeed be concerned, but there are more than a few countries who will be highly pissed if the DPRK tries something of that nature. North Korea vs. the World?
The US alone likely has enough to obliterate a small country like the DPRK. I'd think that would be a prime deterrent.
As for China, I think they should be concerned about talking to the DPRK to defuse this since if the US retaliates with nukes, fallout can easily drift over to China.

Hell yeah!!! If they can stop Godzilla and all his cronies at monster island don't you think they can stop North Korea? Oh plus they got Jet Jaguar so NK is really fucked.
That would have been a different story had they used the Hawk missle batteries on the front line instead of sending them over to Turkey. Taking a missle out is not that hard if you use the right system to take it out with. The Hawk system was proven in combat way before the Patriot was ever thought of and it should have never been retired.
