I know I loved the 1st burnout... I was kind-of curious why the GCN version of Burnout 2 was coming out so far behind the Ps2 version.. yes, the Ps2 version was rather sweet...and nice and all that good stuff.

Here is a list of features:

1.) Offensive Driving 101, where you can "Learn to Burn" from the Burnout Driving School
2.) All-new Pursuit races allow players to race a police car and ram opponents off the road
3.) Crashes are bigger, badder, and more heart-stopping than any seen before: Vehicles deform and car parts fly across the highway!
4.) GameCube version includes 15 more crash junctions than PlayStation 2 version. This mode is now twice the size as the PS2 game mode
5.) Advanced lighting effects such as Bloom Lighting: highlights reflect off of windshields and metal exactly as in real-life
6.) New Custom Series Mode that allows you to race modified vehicles complete with body kits and decals
7.) Progressive scan and Dolby Pro-Logic II support
8.) Six new United States locations, including Miami, Los Angeles, The Rocky Mountains, New Mexico and a busy international airport
9.) 30 new stages to drive with fourteen all-new vehicles
10.) Seven secret vehicles to unlock including police cars, 1950's hotrods and stock cars
11.) Realistic weather effects, such as snow, rain and fog
12.) All-new points-based championship gameplay structure
13.) Vehicles can get air and earn boosts by jumping
14.) Intelligent traffic system, featuring three distinct types of driver behaviors
15.) Upgraded graphics engine

Burnout 2 GCN technical features list:

1.) Significant increases in polygon count and texture size
2.)True specular reflections with specular mapping
3.) True specular lighting with specular mapping on all surfaces
4.)Dynamic weather effects including rain and snow
5.) Anti-aliasing and flicker filtering
6.)Progressive scan TV support for NTSC version
7.) Dolby Pro Logic II support
8.) Specular bloom effects for ultra-realistic specular lighting and halos
9.) More "Hollywood" style crashes
10.)Enhanced traffic system supporting complex intelligent behaviors
11.) State-of-the-art CPU opponent AI with advanced humanistic spatial awareness
12.) Enhanced engine audio model including real-time distortion processing
13.)Dynamically mixed context-sensitive audio streaming
14.) Reflective surfaces
15.) Enhanced instance rendering
16.) Enhanced streaming technology
17.) Non interrupt-driven texture upload system for higher performance

I just quickly scanned that list.
Those are all features found in the PS2 version. They are Burnout 2's enhancements over its predecessor, not GC-specific enhancements.

I know some apply to the ps2 version.... I changed the title..

In the list there are a few things that the Ps2 title didn't have... as you can se.. plus some of the graphical upgrades, supposively.

I still cannot wait for this game.... I have been dying for a sequal.

Really? where was that confirmed?
I only ask because Burnout 2's music changes depending on the situation, and it is usually tricky to do 'mood music' unless the tunes have been pre-programmed with this in mind.

Burnout and Burnout 2 are excellent games. I did get the first game for the XBox and Burnout 2 for the PS2. I love pure arcade racing games, of which the Burnout series is definitely a prime example. The Need for Speed games are of that style too, although their quality has been variable recently.

I'm glad to hear that the second game is coming to both the XBox and GC though, as both systems can probably improve on the PS2 original. I'll pick up Burnout 2 for the XBox once it comes out, currently listed as just "Spring 2003", whever that is.

On a related note, has anyone tried Apex for the XBox? Got great reviews and seems to be another arcade-style racer. I'm thinking of picking it up, but preferably on sale somewhere . . . eye

will it have an option to play without the
"spectacular" crashes.
i think its really annoying and breaks the pace of
the game.

haven't tried it.

On your comment of NFS: HP2.... I didnt like the game all that much.

I still have the original Road&Track Need For Speed on the PC... that was one awesome game. They need to do it like that again, but with updated visuals. I think NFS2 sucked, as did NFS3... and they have gradually been getting better, but they didn't have the feel of NFS the original.

Gaming-age.com has some pics of the XBOX and GC versions.Even though they say "twice the polygon count", it doesn't look drastically different from the PS2 version at all aside from the obvious higher resolution and some other improvements on the visuals. In fact, the PS2 version with progressive scan support looks pretty close to the XBOX and GC pics i have seen.I have tested it on progressive scan.Real time reflection? The reflection in the PS2 version looks cool(isn't real time) but the real time reflections on the XBOX and GC versions look somewhat similar from my observation...
In one of the pic, I saw a pixelated tree looking just the way it looks on the PS2 version.Maybe they might tweak it in the final version.

To those who haven't tried the PS2 version or don't own the PS2:Now is your chance to try out this great arcade racer!!
