I've been waiting for this for awhile. The idea has been around since CDs were first produced. But not until recently that it was a viable alternative. With a 27 Gig capacity, companies won't have to cut nearly as much out of games/media ect... This should be a nice jump. I only wonder about backwards-compatibility.

movies are one thing, but honestly, i dont think anything gets cut out of a game due to space restraints. most dreamcast games didnt even take up the full GD-Rom. letalone DVD based games. all it would do is let square use less compression in final fantasyfor ps4

Yeah, it will make archiving things much easier. Just think of the options...more space for game info, picture and sound quality of movies, space for hq non-compressed music. I'm a huge minidisc fan, and there has been topics on whether this technology could be brought into that area as well.

And I thought using DVD's for gaming was overkill. This is great news for DVD movies, but will game developers slack off even more with the added disc space?

haha never been owned by a nj sonic before! Seriously tho. Companies cut lots out of games/movies any kind of media. If anything, this would allow for more extras.
