I've been meaning to buy their CDs since the late 90's but have never gotten around to it. I love their sound, (going to have a friend of my GF's translate everything however) but have no idea just how far behind I am with their CDs. I imagine there must be some ppl here who are into this German Metal/Trash band. Any help on this would be great.

Sincerely... MegaDrive 20XX

Don't forget the Live in Berlin Album too, even though it's not really a new CD.

And there's also the Mutter Single with the 4 remixes...

CRAP! Are you serious? I guess you'd know being you live in Germany (at least you flag says so)... I always wondered to be honest, but I guess not knowing what they are saying, and the fact I've always thought the German Language sound fuckin' cool... is what would lead me to be mislead. If they really are Nazis then I'll forget about buying anything by them. I don't support HATE groups. Any more info on that in particular concerning Ramstein would be interesting indeed

:(

AND Thanks to the others who answered about their ablums too.

I used to be a pretty big Rammstein fan. Live Aus Berlin is worth the dough. I like Das Ich more though. I would check them out if you like Rammstein.

No I haven't even heard their new album. What makes you say they are nazis?

Stripped
Come with me
Into the trees
We'll lay on the grass
And let the hours pass

Take my hand
Come back to the land
Let's get away
Just for one day

Let me see you
Stripped down to the bone
Let me see you
Stripped down to the bone

Metropolis
Has nothing on this
You're breathing in fumes
I taste when we kiss

Take my hand
Come back to the land
Where everything's ours
For a few hours

Let me see you
Stripped down to the bone
Let me see you
Stripped down to the bone

Let me hear you
Make decisions
Without your television
Let me hear you speaking
Just for me

Let me see you
Stripped down to the bone

Let me hear you speaking
Just for me

Let me see you
Stripped down to the bone

Let me hear you crying
Just for me

we (my friends & me) talked a lot about that "band" and there are some reasons, why we don't like 'em :

1.: guess, you know the song called "du hast". "du hast" meens something like "you did" in english.

straight translation :
"du hast mich gefragt ..." = "you asked me"
"und ich hab' nicht's gesagt" = "and i didn't say anything"

BUT :

you can also spell it as "du hasst" (two "s"), which means "you hate". "du hasst ... du hasst ... du hasst mich" = "you hate ... you hate ... you hate me"

please try to find a better sense in "you did ... you did ... you asked me" ... "and i didn't say anything".
great lyrics, eh? that's exactly, what you're singing along. :D

imo, they are just concentrating on the words "du hasst".

double "SS" anyone? if you know about the nazis, you might also know about the so called "SS".

2.: they are some of the most ignorant persons ever. do you know, where they got the name "rammstein" from?
rammstein is the name of a german town, where lot's of people had to die, during a "flight show".

3.: the video of "let me see you stripped" caused lots of discussions. i don't know, how to describe it, but it shows that old "only the strong will survive and the others aren't worthy"
idea, which was formed by darwin. you might know, that the nazis adopted that idea and used it for their own shit.

4.: there's an other questionable video, but i can't remember the title. it's something about "sonne", "sonnenlicht" or something like that.

anyway ... the never said that they are nazis, but i'm sure that there are some connections to the neonazi scene. actually, i've also heard about connections to the "church of satan", which seems to be the home of lots of nazi-wannabes.

maybe they're just ignorant ...
maybe they're just plain stupid ...

well ... guess, they are ignorant attention whores.

btw : i didn't hear any new stuff in the last couple of months.

ya'll may not know this but i used to live in Germany and "Ramstein" to be exact(not spelled with 2 M's only 1". About that Flight show you said they "had" to die, i don't know if it might have been an english mistake because english isn't your first language but it wasn't some thing that happened during WWII or something that was purposely done, and nobody had to die, it was an accident that happend in either 89 or 90, which was a year or 2 years before I moved to Germany. It took place on Ramstien Air force base on the flight line.

Industrial metal.

My type of music.
I think Rammstein is more about demonstrating their showmanship than pushing political propaganda.

The show I went to around '99 or so had them lighting their stage on fire, and shooting peppermint snapps in the crowd.

I just like them for the harsh guitars and electronics. The gutteral German language fits nicely with it.

Like them? Try --

Yeah I kinda liked that Du Hast song. I never knew anything about them though. I wanted to know since they were named "Rammstein" and i used to live in "Ramstein". I thought maybe they were from the area.

Whats the official spelling of "Du hast" Is it "Hast" or "Haßt" if its the 2nd one then you know its hate.

Anyway it would suck if they had connections to nazis or satanists. That would really suck cuz i was gonna try to listen to them but i guess not now. I'm a new metal fan and I mean brand new, i started liking metal last month, or should i say I became comfortable and admitted to liking metal last month :D

yeah the German language adds to the "hardcore" feel of that type of music. When i first heard German and Scandinavian metal bands on TV I was like "wow, they sound real hardcore" cuz of the way the language sounded with the lyrics. Of course i was a little to afraid to admit i kinda liked it(I was real deep into the Dance music scene then, plus not many black people will admit to liking any form of rock music).

All I know is I like their style of music. As far as the connection to nazis or satanists all I have to say is look at Slayer. For a long time everyone was saying they were satanists and evil. I remember watching an interview with them one time and the biggest part of all the satanic shit was to sell albums. The hell with the political crap just enjoy the music.

If the words "nazi and satanist" are running through your head while you are listening it sometimes can be kinda hard to enjoy whatever music it is.

Supergose, how can you dare arguing they're nazis ? forget that man! they would kick everybody's butt!!!

I saw them live once in Lisbon, they liked us soo much that they even canceled their next show in Barcelona to play again in Lisbon!!!

They were simply great, absolutelly "FANTASTISH" , I met 'em at the end of the show, and all I can say is that they are fucking cool.

I can say that because Lars Ulrich of Metallica, wich is a Band that I prefer over Ramstein, is a fucking arrogant twit. James Hetfield and Jason are 100% cool and drunk addicts, cool as the Ramstein crew. I wasn't able to met Kirk Hammet tough.

Again, they have nothing Nazi. Maybe just some of their lyrics can contain something related, but I don't know very well German, so I can't figure it out.

I was one of the lucky bastards that got here a ticket to meet them after the show and they are really cool.

Guys, they're not politicians sucking you for a vote. ;)

Until then ppl... I'm just going to enjoy listening to all that guttural German!

Why does the rest of the world always assume that EVERY musical act out of Germany are all comprised of Nazis and that their music inherently carries Pro Nazi themes? Translate the titles of Rammsteins'3 full length albums and you'll find that they are "Heartache", "Sorrow" and "Mother".
You can find english translations for all their lyrics here as well as interviews with the band. Remember, these songs were written by Germans and within a German socitial construct, take them out of this context and its easy to misconstru them.

That really pissed off a lot of people here (Oklahoma) which was cool but pretty fruity imo. Rammstein was rather popular here while I was taking my 3rd year of German and it was kinda funny to see how everyone thought "du hast" meant "you hate",(probably due to the english translation). Also interesting was that the translations didn't always translate neatly. Everyone should learn a foreign language imo.

Many popular bands make a living by pissing of people. When you hear there´s a band of german nazis (not really thought) pissing on the crowds with a fake dick you will get interrested. When you hear there is a german band who plays guitar. You will not.

Anyway, i loved Herzeleid and Sensucht, about 50% electronics and 50% guitars. Mutter stinks thought, sounds more like nu-metal acts (which i dislike).

Try these albums instead:

Front Line Assembly - Millenium (rocks)
KMFDM - Nihil (Manga video promo, SF2 animated)
