I am new to ebay and wanted to know what you guys think on this. I am selling some things and got a offer one one of them that I would like to take. Problem is there are 9 bids on the particular item. Is is wrong to end the auction? Agisnt policy? Rude? I need to know, since I am new to ebay! Thanks.

It's rude don't do it. It'd be cool to do if there were no bids and somebody offered you a fat price, but even better would be the use of Buy it Now instead. Don't end it or you'll just piss people off who could buy from you in the furture.

It's not against policy. I would wait and see the price it can get up to. Then if you see that your item will lose value compared to the price offered by someone else, then I would end the auction and tell it's been already sell (which is true). I mean, I once bid on an item sold by Trieu and I was winning when he took it out because it was already sold. Didn't bother me. But just make sure your buyer is serious or else, nothing is covering you.

It is against ebay policy. Selling an item you listed on ebay outside of ebay is against their rules. Thats not to say I havent done it . . . ;)

It is rude. It is NOT against policy. If you have a valid reason to end it early, then you can. If you're going to sell the item for more money, why not just ask the person to bid? It might even go higher than you want it to go for. Well, if you gotta do it, then do it. Don't ask us. We aren't your mother. DO IT!

eBay doesn't like it because they don't get their Final Evaluation Fees. Do it, more power to you, and a cheaper bill.

It is rude. But so fucking what? it's your stuff, let ti go for what you want to pay for it. Their are millions of eBay users, if they don't win yours, they'd probably just bid on someone elses. I know i do if someone cans an auction early.

because when someone offers before the auction ends, most of the time it's because they can;t wait till the auction finishes ;)

It's kind of shady, and it IS rude if you already have bids. Even if there are not any bids yet, it doesn't mean that there aren't people waiting to bid.

Also, look into setting a "reserve price" for your auctions. Even though it's annoying for buyers, this will keep you from taking losses.
