A few people and I have been working on a counter site to the MAVAV.org and I am looking for some good views from people of many different boards.
I know there are some really intelegent people here that I was hoping would like to contribute.

We don't have the site fully working yet and is still [WIP] but here is the link PAMAV.ORG
Okay so I don't really have it on a .org but hopfully will.

I'm typing up a very concise letter (without profanity or rants) that should be ready in about a day or so. I'd really like to give these ppl a chunk of my mind and be taken seriously, so I'm on the wagon... was planning on emailing this letter to them actually.

I'm glad to see this isn't going to be a massive flame-assault on the MAVAV, you guys are going about it sensibily and in a fashion that may even be understood by the opposition. Good start thus far.

You're right about their letters. However these people (the Bitches Against Videogames aka MAVAV) are really closed minded and stubborn. It takes 2 open minds to understand each other.

I wrote them a letter also. And the fact I'm an Ordained Reverend Might help our cause. They won't listen to the gamers but a Man of the cloth? (which technically I am) they might.

If there are any other Universal Life Church misters here feel free to give them a piece of your mind.

I wrote this up last night. Due to the lack of a spellchecker in my web-based email and my all around lazyness, the letter is not particularly stylized and my word usage not particularly great. Despite its shortcomings, I kinda like it. I made my point. Let me know what you think.

After reading your content, I now understand my "enemy". My name is Joseph Paine. I am a high school junior. I have a healthy social life. I am a commended national merit scholar. And I actively participate in two varsity sports and AZA, a jewish high school fraternity. Yet somehow, I have escaped your generalizations concerning those who play video games.
On average I play video games at least a couple hours a day during the week, and often more on the weekends. I own Grand Theft Auto 1, 2, 3, and 3:vice city among many other violent games. But before I start, I would honestly like to know where in any GTA game one is encouraged to have sex and/or kill a prostitute. That statement along with many others similar to it (especially in the MMORPG section)have made me doubt the validity of your website. Please do not get me wrong. I am not writing this to bash you or your website. I just feel an obligation, as one of the millions of teenage gamers now affixed with your label, to defend myself and my position.
The conclusion I came to is this: You blaming the video game industry with everything from violence to obesity is not unlike blaming home depot for the world trade center bombings because they sell box cutters. Just because kids today are difficult does not mean you must find a quick fix. Instead I implore you to get to the root of the problem instead of merely attacking a medium through which SOME troubled teens find enjoyment. Mental health, family counseling, anger managment. THESE are what will prevent the youth of our nation from lashing out. Stifling one aspect of their release will only lead to the creation of more outlets, each more radical than the next. Video games are just, to use a coloquialism, "the tip of the iceberg". If you would only look lower you would see that the true answer lies not in music, video games, or televison, but in each individual child himself. I speak out not from anger that my hobby is under attack, but for the patronization of American youth and the tendency of American culture to find an easy resolution as opposed to a valid solution. You and I are out for the same thing. Please try to understand that.

Sincerely,
-joseph paine

p.s. I apologize for the stream of consciousness nature of this email. Its late and Im tired.

I wrote them a letter last night:

Dear MAVAV,

I have looked over your site and I must say I am very impressed. Your group presents so many sensible and well-thought out ideas that, when looked at with an open mind, just make sense! So many kids today have a very serious problem when it comes to allocating a reasonable amount of time towards their video game hobby and I would guess that about 98% of them turn into murderers and rapists that probably also steal stuff too. Oh, by the way, all you bitches really needed is a good ass-pounding or night of rough sex, no strings attached. After you get done riding me like that dude in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City rides his bikes (which he stole) you probably won't even care about video games anymore. I can take care of any hot-looking single moms or even married ones if they promise not to tell in the Orange County/LA area of Southern Cali. Drop me a line.

Thank you.

PS: See how I turned it around on them? I'm all sneaky and shit like that.

Neon, just to point out that you made a big mistake in the last sentence... You said:

"Uh, oh. I think you caught us! Actually, while warez distribution is always an issuee on the internet, buying legitimate games is by no means “ the only method acceptable by the underground.” Where you get these unrealistic ideas is anyone’s guess."

It doesn't make sense since you write that the only acceptable method of the underground is buying games.

Not a flame or anything but I just wanted to help you out with those frustrated moms and leave nothing opened. :D

I hate to say it but unless you are Catholic or at least one form of Christian they will probably not care. People like this tend to be closed to anything that doesn't conform to what they think is right.

So it is quite possible that you sending them a letter saying you are an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church will probably get a response like "Huh? Is that a religion?".

I am not knocking your religion (if you are serious about this) as I do not perscribe to any religion myself. Just thought you might want to keep in mind they will probably not see you as a man of the cloth if you do not bow to the same religion they do.

A agree with the letter plan...writing abuse and swearing is not going to show that we are NORMAL people and can live in the real world....I personally do not want to kill anyone and dont intead to even....games are good they make you think and put you in positions that you would not normally face

so go on lads do the right thing and do good letters, im just glad thatim not writing one as my grammer would mess everyone up

Oh yea that is very much going in there. I'm a devout Roman Catholic, have been my whole life. My family the same. My mother's been working for my local diocese for years, and I worked in their central office for the better part of a year. I still go to church every sunday and am a respected lector, choirster, and cantor. I also practice what I preach. I give, serve, and worship with my community, and play video games.

I think be able to perform marriages is a right that everyone in Nevada has. It's like a state law or something I think.

Actually I beleive in most states you don't have to be a minister to be able to marry people. All you need to be is a notary of the public.

I dunno how I feel about this yet, theres something that tells me that this site is a fake...like it's being ran by some college kids for a laugh or something. It's just too over the top, and seems to be intended to offend gamers. Something that doesn't seem like it's made by a group of mindless, fickle housewives.
