"Innocence" is the anime movies name.
This is old news for some in here im sure but still wanted to post this. Cause I recently found out. M.Oshii is once again gonna direct!! STudio Ghibli is involved aswell. The makers of MONONOKE and Spirited Away. 2004 is the release year. When I saw that I was almost in the edge of fainting.. I'm a huge Ghost IN THe Shell fan.

There is a TV series out aswell based on the Ghost In THe Shell story. "Stand alone complex is it called. But I heard that the TV series suck so would be cool to hear what u guys, who are into anime think about it..

Soon 2004! Keep up the waitin.. -_-

Stand Alone Complex DOES NOT SUCK! Whoever told you that has their head shoved waaaaay up their arse. The TV-Series takes elements of the movie (which while I like Mamrou Oshii's Jin-Roh his Motkoko looks too butch) and new elements and interweaves them into a much better product than the movie. Plus the TV-Series looks more faithful to the Manga with a much more femminne looking Motoko versus the Butch look of Oshii's. Sure there's things that could not be done for the televisied medium even in the Nippon, BUT for pete's sake that TV-Series is testament to just how good a TV-Series can look and be. I'm all for the next flick and glad to know it's on the way, but *Stand Alone Complex* does not suck by any stretch of the imagination man.

does Stand Alone have those crab tanks? they were actual characters in the manga, and were the main focus in the videogame, but were never included in the movie.

YES! The Fuchikomas (renamed "Tachikomas") are in GITS: SAC. Like I said, it stays a lot closer to the original FEEL of the manga. How someone could say it sucks... well I'll respect someones opinions, I just think that's whack. I can think of a lot worse anime out there that gets royal treatment but doesn't deserve it the way some others do.

Megadrive- U liked tghe original Manga more that the the Ghost In The Shehell Movie? In my mind the the Movie is almost better.(imo) I like what Oshii did with it. It's more mature and kinda "serious" than the actual manga. I did not enjoy the "comic/funny stuff that was in the manga. In the otherhand, I read the manga after I saw the film so.. I'm very exited about the upcoming film, and ofcourse have major expectations. When Ghibli is involved and Oshii steering the ship, it can't get wrong..

i'm a shirow fan first and foremost so Oshii's GitS was a whole lot more Oshii and not enough Shirow for me.

there was a whole 2 pages deleted from the US manga release of GitS. the edited page was basically Motoko getting some mad lesbian hand action VR session on a yacht. Shirow draws sexy bitches <img src="graemlins/drool2.gif" border="0" alt="[Drool 2]" />

Man I love the movie! I just didn't agree/think that Mamoru Oshii was the best man for the job concerning this particular project and it's visual representation. Oshii on the film's more bleak take on Shirow's vision in the Manga of GITS... Heck Yeah! .... Oshii on the films different cosmetic apporach and the exclusion of the Fuchikomas... NOPE. Thus I view the GITS movie as a damn good film overall as well as animated and/or within the Cyberpunk-Future Noir realm, but I didn't think his presentation visually nor with missing elements was spot on. Thus "Stand Alone Complex" IMO, is what the film should have been in terms of keeping true to the original film. It would be like having Rumiko Takahashi of Urusei Yatsura and Ranma 1/2 doing JIN-ROH: The Wolf Brigade... just doens't compliment well overall. BUT I love GITS anyway I can take it.

A fast look at ebay gave these results:

i-1.JPG
This seems to hold episode 1-2 plus some more material.

And this seems to hold episodes 1-2 aswell..Plus some xtra material..These are ofcourse homemade/ hk copies but still the price is not so high, so I'm actually gonna buy one of these..

Patlabor 3 was not directed by Oshii this time but I managed to see it on our filmfestival here in Sweden. I can say that the film is very good. Classic Patlabor styled. Kawai's music is haunting and beautiful as expected. I'd say it's the second best Patlabor movie. For me they are rated in this order: P2,P3 and P1.

I really hope this gets picked up for relese in america (I've given up on the UK anime scene).
Even better would be for it to get picked up and have a decent dub added.

Yea I know - most of you are sub-only people, but I like my dubs, and lately the quality of dubs has improved A LOT.

But I'm not going for the Japanese-only R2 disks. No point in watching it if I cant understand it.

Hey I saw the first one and thought it was awesome. I'm definitely down for the sequel but is it going to pick up from where the last one left off??

Pac_Man- Yea, might say Ghost IN The Shell 2 but "Innocence" is the right name.Tetsuo- Not much info is found about the actual plot but, It's propably gonna be based on the manga but we will have M.Oshii's vision to it as in the first GITS anime.
